Groundrod
I am in the process of converting VCD files so they can be burnt to DVD's with my burner. I found a good program and it is working fine. I am converting the files to MPEG. My question is the other choices are convert to MPEG w/MP2 audio, Headed MPEG, TS. Also, I can export to Quick Time, DV, AVI, MPeg4 etc. I am happy with the MPEG, but where can I get information on all of the other choices. Would one of them be better? What is the difference between "converting" and "exporting"? I am just not computer savvy enough to figure some of this out. Thanking you in advance. If you want to create a standard video DVD that you can play on all stand-alone DVD players then there is only format:mpeg2. This format is "automatically" selected when you choose to create a DVD. Some DVD players are also able to play DivX. I don't know what "Headed MPEG or "TS" format is.
tbrewst
When you use the other program it can take your original file and convert it from the format it's in to another format. It will export the new file in that format to whatever location you choose (hard drive). Then if you use Roxio to make a DVD it will encode the file you exported into mpeg which like Walt said is the DVD format standard. If you export the file in any format other than mpeg then when Roxio goes to burn the DVD it will encode the file into that DVD standard format. Guest ml
I am in the process of converting VCD files so they can be burnt to DVD's with my burner. You also need to be aware that VCD is usually a much lower resolution than what is used for DVDs. Before you import all those VCDs, you might want to burn one DVD with a movie that you imported from a VCD to see if the quality is acceptable to you.
