Blu-ray Problem

Larry E

Question

Last week we were able to burn a blu-ray disc on blu-ray media using Toast 9, latest update. yesterday and today without making any changes to the workflow. Each disc has failed with the following error message. Couldn't complete the last command because of a MacOS Error. Result Code = -39 and the file "00001.m2ts" could not be accessed. (data fork, -39). So now I have three blu-ray media coasters.

Is anyone else having this issue? is there a work around or is this a bug in Toast 9. the fact that I see it's a MAC OS Error would lead me to believe that it's an OS Error and not Toast. However since we used the same steps last week and didn't have a problem it's certainly a head scratcher. BTW we using the LaCie blu-ray burner and BD-R 2x media.

Thanks

Have you tried saving as a disc image? Anytime I burn anything to Blu-ray (which I do quite often with perfect success of late) I always go to a disc image first.

I used to get the -39 Error - but here's what I've done that has helped.

1) Make sure your "Roxio Converted Items" folder is not on the Mac OS drive and make sure it has lots and lots of space.

2) Always go to disc image first. That way if it dies anything you've already converted is still in the converted items folder. On occasion when I used to get -39 Errors I would then hit burn with the same project file again and it would be fine.

Decided to let the app do everything. Just set it to automatic. App expectantly quit around 75% during the encode. The bright side was I didn't have another 12 dollar coaster, but I am working on a really nice mobile made from the other seven. It'll look nice hanging in the office. C'mon Roxio admit you have a problem with this app and FIX IT!

You don't mention what kind of file you are attempting to convert to Blu-ray. Is your source from Final Cut Pro? What is the format?

I had a similar problem, but solved it by using "Apple Intermediate Codec" as the way to save my FCP output.

Good luck!

Thanks, did all that still results in a failure at 96%. Doesn't seem to matter whether I have it set for automatic or custom the results are still the same Coaster count = 12. Trying to keep this thread alive.

Have you tried contacting Roxio support.

Never use sleep mode on any of our macs (6) Here's another update, since we have more than a few macs around here, we tried to burn another blu-ray disc on a machine running 10.4.11 Same issue fails at 96% with the same error messages.

We're tried it a number of ways and formats. Yes, we're coming out of FCP as a self contained movie. We've even exported it as a .mov using the xdcam ex native codec. I'll give the apple intermediate codec a try and report back. I think if we put our collective heads together we may come up with a no-fail solution.

exact same problem here on first try. what is the deal? fix this roxio! that's the only reason we bought this pos and it can't even do it?!?

with bd-r's at $12 each i can't afford to be a beta tester for them.

(tried dvcprohd 720p 23.98 and hdv 1080i 29.97) external LG bdr sata, os 10.5.4, toast 9.02
