I have tried reinstalling as well as updating it but to no avail. i even rebooted my pc(on Vista Home premium) and still gets the same result. can anybody help me figure out how to get rid of this problem? I would gladly appreciate any help i can get. thank you.

Does this happen to any video file or only for a particular file? What is the format of the video file (what is the file extension)? Is the source a commercial video (store-bought)?

Have you tried launching Video Copy and Convert via other route? That is, if crashing is happening using the individual application, how about launching the application via Home page?

I have tried launching it from the home page as well in the video editting option and it still crashes. the video file is a recorded copy of my favorite shows from the DVR and i believe the format that it is in is UDF format(a DVD copy as such). i have also tried installing my older software from roxio(copy & convert) with the same editting options but it also crashes. i hope you could further assist me in correcting the problem.thank you.

I am confused on what you are actually doing and what program from EMC 10 Deluxe you are using.

First of all, what are you trying to do? Do you simply want to convert the video from you DVR into another format? Do you eventually want to burn the video to a DVD?

What format is the recorded video, mpeg or avi or what? (UDF is not a video format)

It would also help a lot if you were to put some of your system specs in your signature like I have in mine.

Thanks for spending some time on my issues. Anyway, i have recorded shows on TV to my DVR and then re-recorded them to my Toshiba DVD Video Recorder(from my DVR). The DVD that i get in the process is what i use for editting. The option on EMC 10 deluxe that i use for video editting and converting is the Convert Video option. I convert my home made DVD into either WMV file or MPEG4 file so that i could file them in my external HD to prevent clutter in my workspace(i just don't like the idea of keeping copied DVDs). Now that's where my problem stems coz after i load my DVD for editting, the application closes. The DVD's i made were not protected so that i could have them editted anytime. What bothers me too is that i have used this application a lot of times before (when my new PC first came) and i have used it for months and recently it closes/crashes when the DVD is loaded for editting. I have also added my specs for your analysis. Hope you could help me resolve this issue. Thanks a lot.

Your system looks like it should handle any video work. The only problem might be the graphics card which is an integrated chip and not a stand-alone video card.

If you are editing video you should be using Videowave not Video Copy & Convert. You will have a lot more features and options.

Are you trying to edit the video directly from the DVD? I don't even know if that is possible. You should bring the video from the DVD to your hard drive for editing.

Have you tried to "capture" directly from your DVR to your hard drive instead of first going to your DVD recorder?

Evening,

i have had exactly the same problem with my video convert. i have finally found a way to do it though.

Open video convert as you would normally, then find the file you want to add, NOT by going through add movie option in video convert. drag the item you would like to convert over to the video convert box. it should now open the usual add movie box, select the video and then press add. for some strange reason this works. hopes this makes sense.

Cheers
