Creator 2009 Failure To Install

The Saint

Question

:angry2: Have never entered any discussion before, but I am so angry at the inability to install creator 2009. I been trying for past week to install creator 2009, and failed miserably. Have followed all instructions over clean install as suggested by Roxio + disabling Virus control + changing install to a different administrator. I also tried the suggestion to copy to c:/ drive.

On each and every occasion the install goes fine until it reaches the EMC11 where it says it fails because I haven't installed EMC10 and so it rolls back and thus fails to install.Sonic are no help at all it's as though they no the problem but choose not to help.

I have been delighted with Roxio in the past, but now it looks as though I'll have to write off my purchase and go to a competitor that actually works. Waht ever happened to "plug and play"???

Any help to redeem the situation and actually get it to install wiill be gratefully appreciated.

Frustrated I am.

I am trying to install on a Toshiba U405 with Vista homee premium

Edit: I took the liberty of combinging the posts

Your post is nothing to do with this thread - if you search the forum for 'install EMC 10' this topic is well covered

Sorry. Tried entering your suggested quote in search and it came back with no result. Would be grateful if you indicate how I access the right forum to try and resolve my dilemma.

If you are trying to install C2009 you are in the right forum but you should always start a new thread stating you problem. Doing "me too" posts usually confuse everybod since one not always knows to whom a reply applies.

Sounds like you have tried the most reliable ways of trying to get it installed, so it can't be that you aren't trying. When you say you have tried to transfer the program to the C:\ drive and install from there, I assume you have the downloaded program, rather than a store bought program disc or retail boxed version.

There is no way that one should have to have EMC 10 installed for it to install corectly. I have installed C 2009 on my Vista Home Premium 32bit computer and the install went fine and I have no other Roxio/Sonic programs on the computer. And I have the downloaded program. Do you have any other similar programs installed on the same computer ?? I hate to continue to say what others have already said, but I would try the clean un-install of the program. Start with removing it through the add/remove software method first. Then make sure that there are no traces of any of the files in the Programs folder, especially the "shared" folders. If so delete them also. Then if you are familiar with editing the registry, search on the program there and delete every instance found. If you are NOT familiar with the registry then by all means don't play with it !! Last try the clean install again.

I know this is frustrating for you but give it a go again and see if you can get it installed. Have you actually talked with Roxio about the problem ? Just curious.

Thank you for your reply. I had done all that Roxio suggested plus others from the forum. However the solution was found by using the suggestion from grandpabruce on the forum by deleting the entry in the registry. (I was suprised that Roxio don't mention this in their clean uninstall instructions)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{7A7B3764-7F17-4AB1-A1D3-3B01F5F07445} (Creator 2009)

and this finally allowed the programme to install.

Will now try using the programme in the hope that no other issues arise.

Thanks again and thank you to grandpabruce.

It would appear from reading the forum that Sonic are no help at all judging by the amount of people who have asked for help and never received a reply.

You're welcome, and I am glad that you are up and running. I believe that I just posted a link to that solution. Someone else gets the credit for posting it.
