Building Slideshow Problem In Mydvd 7

Birder

Question

I'm having a problem creating a DVD (and a disc image) with MYDVD 7. I have created a project with a slideshow of 840 photo images and several avis and mpgs. The slideshow has audio and I have been able to successfully preview it on my pc with no problems many times as I have been fine-tuning it. Now that I am trying to create a DVD, it hangs up in the step entitled "building slideshows" . The green bars on the bottom of the screen go about 80% across in 30 minutes, then go no futher. I've waited 12 hours and still stays at the same spot. The system doesn't freeze as such and the curser can move around, it just doesn't proceed.

Per the MYDVD instructions, I've now tried to create a disc image and so far - after about 2 hours, it seems to be stuck at the same spot. In reading the help files, it says that a particular image may be causing a problem, and that the entire project should be recreated from scratch and then try to save to a disc image after adding each photo. This would take weeks to recreate. I don't want to have to start all over if there is an alternate solution.

Does anyone have any ideas?

BTW - I used this software about a year ago, creating a slideshow with about 600 photos and it worked fine.

I have a Dell 8300 with a 500GB hard drive and 1GB main memory. I'm running Windows XP, SP3.

Thanks,
