Mydvd 10

Question

Hi

Would appreciate some input. I just received MyDVD10. I specifically asked for the 10.1 version but cannot see anywhere on disc or pkging what version it is.

Where would it appear? Know I can download update but don't like upgrading when I just purchase a product.

Thank you

Hello Basket,

If you run the software, and go up to the Help button and select 'About this software' you should get a display which will show you the Name of the suite, the Version number, and the Build number. Those first three lines are the important ones, if you care to share them with us. Don't disclose the 4th line, the serial number.

If you find that you don't have the 10.1 version, here is a link to the update to 10.1.:

Hi Brendon

Thank you so much for your response, appreciate it. Will install the program and check out "About this sofware" and get back to you. Hate to start out having to upgrade before I even begin especially since I was assured I would get the latest version out there. I will share what I find with you.

Thanks again

Well, we don't know yet if you will have to update, however it's quite common around the market to buy a product on disc, and then log in to the manufacturer's website and update to the latest and greatest. When a manufacturer commits the product to disc it's usual to sell off all the discs before putting out the updated version.

That's something I also recommend buyers of DVD burners to do - their drive might have been on the shelf for some time before they buy it, and there might be updated firmware available already.

Brendon

Hi Brendon

I was able to install MyDVD10 Premier recently and the version I received was as ordered....10.1.143.

I had started a DVD project on MyDVD8 in another computer. Is there any way to transfer what I have done to MyDVD10 which is in another computer?

Thanks

Basket

Sorry Basket,

I don't know about that because I've never done it.

IF [and that's a big 'IF' because a lot of this software is not backwards compatible] MyDVD10 will accept a saved MyDVD8 project, I would expect that you will need to have all your source files in exactly the same path on the new computer as they were on the old computer since the project file stipulates where the source files are.

If the path on the new computer involves a change in username or version number, you might have to construct an entirely new branch on your file tree so that the files live in exactly the same path.

I suggest you try it and see, unless some of the other folks can hop in here and tell you 'yea or nay' already.

Regards,

Brendon

Hi Brendon

Thanks again for your response, appreciate it.

Guess I will have to restore it photo by photo in MyDVD10. I have copied my photos into my external 500gb Book so I would not clog my computer that has MyDVD10 installed even though I have lots of room there. Did not want to have hesitation problem as before. So path has changed and I am sure path would be slightly different since two different brand computers even though same operating system.

Will have to bite the bullet and redo it....:( or keep it as a two part DVD and just redo newest section.

Thanks again

I guess it's better to know the bad news before you start, else you might be 99% through the project before you discover you have to start again.

Brendon
