Unable To Monitor Album Recording

Sedentaryspud

Question

I am using EMC 10 using an HP Pavillion desktop under Vista Home Premium and a Realtek soundcard. I finally was able to start converting an LP after I updated my audio driver to recognize line in. I amusing a Yamaha YP801BL turntable and a (TCC) TC-750LC phono preamp into the line in of the soundcard. I can record the album but cannot monitor the sound during the recording. When the recording is finished, I can play and hear the results o.k. I want to monitor the recording part though, in case the record starts skipping or some other anomoly happens. What can I do to be able to monitor the sound while recording. Thanks for any useful info.

I think that you need to get a dedicated sound card.
