Creator 2009 Avc H.264 Output Seen As Unsupported Data On Ps3

Question

In the other thread you mention waiting for a 'lossless' editor. You'll be waiting for a long time since there is no such thing. ANY time you edit, the video must be re-encoded and therefore 'some' loss in quality. Very few editors can 'smart' render AVCHD. I only know of two and those aren't 'full featured' editors.

For the absolute best Hidef quality from C2009, you need to 'output to file' using Videowave and choose the Blu-ray SP template. That will give you 1920x1080i @25Mbps bitrate.

AVCHD (MPEG 4) uses a much higher compression than HDV (MPEG 2). The Blu-ray SP template uses HDV which should give you the best possible quality.

Ggrussell. I'm very interested in what you suggest. I have just today got my Creator 2009 Ultimate going after a difficult and time consuming installation problems. I tried straight away to try your suggestion but when I go to Videowave, edit my footage and go to output to file the template Blu-Ray SP 1920 x 1080i@25Mbps does not appear. The template you also suggested to me on a previous post Blu-ray AVC SP 1920 x 1080@11.72 Mbps also does not exist my Videowave. In fact there are no Blu-Ray options/ templates.

I received my software direct from Roxio as a single physical DVD disc not a download. I did not receive any other software or instructions and as far as I can see there are no other sorftware extras on the DVD.

The imported files are MPEG4 AVC H.264 1920 x 1080i @12Mbps if this has any bearing on the issue.

I wonder if my version of Creator 2009 Ultimate is missing something to let me output in Bluray.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you selecting a 16 by 9 format for the project. The others may not show if you select the 4 by 3 format.

I have taken the advice of the digital gurus and in order to get the best Hidef quality have produced an output to file in Videowave in the Bluray SP 1920 x 1080i @ 25Mbps template (PAL as there doesn't appear to be an NTSC option). The original files are MPEG 4 AVC H.264 1920 x 1080i @ 15Mbps 29.97fps. I'm playing through a Playstation 3 to my HDTV.

Unfortunately panning movement in the footage which is fine and smooth in the original files takes on a stepping effect in the Bluray MEPG2 output.

My PC is a core 2 duo 1.38Ghz with 2MB ram. Graphics card is a Radeon X1940 Pro with 256mb. Vista 32bit.

Does anyone have any ideas how to overcome the stepping effect so I get a nice smooth pan like the original file please.

Thank you.

I have taken another test and created an output using the MPEG2 High definition 1920 x 1080 @ 25Mbps template which does allow the frame rate to be changed to 29.97fps guessing the the differing frame rates might be the problem and it has made a difference. The stepping is much reduced however there is still a form of motion sickness to the panning a bit like the image is doubling as the panning occurs. As an example very marked when panning past a large airport window with lots of vertical lines. Very giddy visually. Not evident in the original file when played through the PS3.

Hi,

one of the reasons I bought Creator 2009 Ultimate was that it advertised file output in H.264 format. I have tried the template Blu Ray AVC 1920 x 1080 @15mbps. Unfortunately my PS3, a very popular media player, sees the file as unsupported data.

My original files from my camera are also AVC H.264 1920 x 1080i @15mbps and the PS3 sees and plays them fine.

Has anyone come across this and have any ways round it please?
