Problems Opening Old Files?

One of my clients lost her EMC 8 software, so we ended up buying EMC 10 (anyway to buy EMC 8 again?) however we cant seem to open any of her old video files she created with EMC 8. I was wondering are there any known issues? or should I try re-installing or try a different computer? I dont have the specific error message we get at the moment, ill update post when i get it.

Since you mentioned video, do you mean opening in EMC 10 a Videowave production created in EMC 8? I'm afraid EMC 10 is not backward compatible with VW productions created in EMC 8.

 

But if you have the resulting video file (avi, mpg, wmv, video folder, ISO file, etc) created out of that EMC 8 production, you can open or use those in EMC 10.

Yout are correct, however i dont believe all of her VW projects are in another format. which leeds me to another question, where to i buy EMC 8? or can i get a trial version anywhere just to convert her videos? or is there a converter anywhere?

No trial versions of EMC 8 are available, and since VW productions that are not outputted are in a proprietary format of Roxio, I think you will have to see if you can find an old copy of EMC 8 somewhere if you cannot recreate the VW files.

Google for it but make sure it is the full version and not an OEM.

 

Also be carefull but you can usually find a copy on e-Bay.
