Video Editing After Capture

Nealtor

Question

I have been able to capture HD video from Canon camcorder HV30 a "tape" device, to Videowave in Creator 2009. But then I'm lost.. I "Create scenes" but there is no dragging them to the storyline.. I need to do this with the 100 Plus scenes that show up so they can be edited. I need to delete portions of the 63 minute tape (I have four of them from a recent vacation). Anyone have the same problem? Any cures?

My Machine is a Gateway DX4710 Series with Vista home Premium 64bit. 6GB memory, Intel Core 2 Quad Core Q6600, 640 GB HDD, ATI 3450 video card

When you click on ADD Photo/Video, you can not 'drag' videos from that window to the timeline. You must select a file or files and then click OK.

If you go to the TOOLS section and click on 'Show Media Selector', then you should be able to drag from that window.

Thank you for the reply. However before I read it, I figured out that next to the green "play" arrow is a little black arrow curved downward. I clicked on that and all of the scenes opened in "Media Selector". Then I was able to drag them to the "Storyline". Now I can't figure out how to edit them. I want to be able to delete portions of the video before or after some of the "Scenes" and in one case I want to copy a portion of a "between scene" view to the beginning of the project, in additon to keeping it where it is. This project editing is not as easy as I thought it would be with Roxio. It just seems to me that answers should be right there and all you'd have to do is click here or there and it'd be done. But no such luck. I don't think trimming is the answer because that would cause the beginning or the end of the project to be wrong. I also tried once again, clicking on "detect scenes" to bring me to the related window. I tried creating scenes manually and when I thought it worked...I couldn't drag it to the story board. I just need a systematic for sure way to edit these movies...I thought Roxio was the answer.

IF you have no experience at all in editing video, Roxio is still one of the easiest to use. However, you will need to spend some time to learn how IT works. One thing I tell everyone when training. Forget what you think how a computer should work. You need to learn how IT works. Sometimes it may be 'intuitive' to you, but most of the time it probably won't.

If you don't have the manual, you can get it here.

Trim does exactly what you think it should - trim from each END of a video clip.

If you need to cut something from the middle of video clip, you should use the Timeline view. Go to the EMC 10 Tips & Tricks here to view some tutorials. Check out the one for removing commercials. Same thing as removing a portion in the middle of a clip.
