Log File For Failed Install

epr

Question

Roxio creates an error log file located in LOCAL SETTINGS/TEMP. It will provide a one liner providing the error and the file creating the problem.

It can be found by doing RUN\%temp%

I believe the CLEAN INSTALL instructions should provide this information.

I am using XP Professinal.

Well if the disc is damage in shipment, then report it to Roxio (thats if it has come from certain places and other companies) and reclaim the shipping costs. That the law of Sales of Goods Act. Here in the UK . It happen with friend of mine and wipe his entire hard drive out.

It sounds like as a hair line scratch on the disc. You are very lucky which damages the installation of certain files

I was surprised to find an ERROR LOG FILE. I believe this is important information for the folks having problems. They seem unaware of the issues with their install - as I was.

My situation involved a disc damaged in shipment.

I read two different versions of the CLEAN INSTALL. I used parts of both.

I copied the files of DISK 1 to the hard disk as recommended by the DIGITAL GURU. I believe previous versions wouldn't work this way.

The instruction to empty %temp% puzzled me. It provided me with the discovery of the ERROR LOG as I was opening the files in %temp% to figure out what they were.

I had to recover several files with a deep scan.

The LOG file identified the error and file needed to be fixed to move on with the install.

The program is now loaded and RoxioCentralFX.exe hangs at different times. It seems to hang loading plug-ins. Then there are times when everything is loaded and it still doesn't like something. Obviously there are a lot of drivers being loaded very fast. Then there are times the program opens with no problem.

Did your friend report it to Roxio? Was he able to reclaim the shipping costs?

Please explain your last sentence (in bold).
