Converting Pal To Ntsc - Toast 8

Rooney

Question

I am trying to convert a PAL DVD to NTSC - I have copied the Video-TS file to the desktop and the added the files to Toast vis the Media Browser. The disc appear to burn OK but the reports Mac Error Code -208 (badFileFormat - File is corrupt or unusable, or not AIFF or AIFF-C) - any ideas

Just tried that with the same result right at the end of saving the Disc Image - any further ideas appreciated

Bewildering. Do you have ample hard drive space available? Also, do you have MPEG Streamclip? If you do we can try some workarounds with it.

I haven't encountered that and don't know what caused it. However, when doing this kind of conversion it's almost essential to choose Save as Disc Image from the File menu instead of clicking the burn button. When done you can burn the disc image to DVD using the Image File setting in the Copy window.

I have around 42GB free HD space and it's only a 5 minute long PAL movie I am trying to convert. Have just downloaded MPEG Streamclip......

Open the video from the VIDEO_TS folder in MPEG Streamclip. Choose Fix Timecode Breaks from the Edit menu, then choose Convert to MPEG (this just saves it as an MPEG 2 file and doesn't change it in any way). Now use that MPEG 2 file in Toast in place of the one that isn't working right.
