Bars/fill Button On Preview Panel

Clybella

Question

Trying to understand all the features of VideoWave and I notice a box on the left hand side of the Preview Panel with 2 choices, Bars or Fill. It is on the same line as the Brightness/ Contrast / Saturation adjustment boxes. What is this option for and how do I use it? Can't seem to find the answer by searching. Thanks

When you open the VideoWave program, in the centre of the screen is the box called Preview, and it indicates the name of the photo you have loaded. Right beneath that are the pictoral icons for Show/Hide Tasks, Edit Internal Tracks....,Add Text etc. Right beneath that are the options for making last minute adjustments to your photo within your production. Brightness and the current setting of 50.0000, and then Contrast at the current setting of 50.0000, Saturation and Duration and then there is a box that is a drop down with two options Bars and Fill. I have no idea what that option is for, and none of the tutorials have it marked or indicated.

thanks,

Thank you very much for that picture - as they say a "picture is worth a 1000 words"

I have never needed to use any of those adjustments and thus have never payed attention to any of those setting especially "Bar & Fill"

I will try and find out if anybody knows anything about this.

Bar/Fill is used when you have an image that is not filling the screen. For eg. you have a portrait image which can be either displayed with "Bars" (Black by default) on the side or can "Fill" the screen to fit the actual image.

Cheers

Thank you for the information. I have never used this feature since I always use the Pan&Zoom if using a protrait image and want to fill the screen.

Why thank you! That is great to know. I guess I will have to try those things again. I have not been sure if by using the Pan and Zoom I am actually reducing the resolution quality or not. There is so much to learn, and while it's fun to play, it does make for a long time on a project.

When you use the Pan & Zoom, essentially getting rid of bars, does this reduce the resolution, I've been experimenting but I'm not sure. It appears as though it does, but I wasn't sure if I was in actual fact.

In a DV D the resolution is 720 X 480 at best.

If that looks sharp and crisp to you on a large screen, great. Now if you use Pan & Zoom you are taking a piece of that image and blowing it up. You can never make it better than it was to start with.

If I take this picture and Zoom to just the jet:

And then resize it to fill the screen, not a pretty sight! The original pixels cannot change in size so all I have done is make them bigger.
