Good morning,

I am unable to backup photo (jpg and bmp formats) to a CD and DVD that other computers, not having Roxio installed, can open. Please let me know what I am doing that is wrong.

Thank you so much,

Pete

Might be a real good idea to tell us how you are doing it???

Details are good.

What copy program from the Creator 2009 suite are you using to copy your files?

There are no Roxio extensions that will prevent files from being opened. From your description it sounds like you are trying to use Drag to Disc which does not even exist in C 2009

Again, thank you for your help.

I am copying a folder (right click) and pasting it to my D drive. Which works, but the files can only be opened on PC's that have Roxio on them. If Roxio is not loaded, the disk appears blank.

The earlier Roxio version, I referenced, may have been "8". With that version, there was a file "backup" routine that one could use to send files to the appropriat drive and once the transfer was completed the program would as if one wanted to finalize it.

Again, thanks,

Pete

Nothing you are saying makes any sense. Nothing in this version can do what you claim is taking place.

Open one of the Roxio applications and click on Help – About.

Tell us what the Version Number is?

Hang on Pete, we are going to move!

Lets' start fresh. Forget everything you did before since it didn't work anyway.

Open Creator Classic.

Go to File – Project Settings. Set it for UDF, No Bridge

Use Classic to add files to the Project Pane (right side) – Do Not drag and drop anything!

Click Burn then Options. Make sure there is no checkmark by Read Only.

Burn the disc.

Let us know how that works out.

You are da man,

It worked!!! I followed your directions precisely. Thanks for all your help.

Good!!!

But I have one more trick for you! (wanted to make sure we had this part working first)

To add more to the disc – Open Classic, insert disc and wait.

A popup will appear asking if you want to import previous session? YES! Click it or use the import icon should you miss the short time the popup is there.

You must always import previous sessions before trying to burn or it will reject the disc and demand a new disc.

Thank you for your question. I've attempted to take a file folder, containing the photo files, and doing a copy ' paste to my D drive, that had a blank DVD in it. There must be a Roxio extension on each of these photo files that prohibit them from being opened by any computer not having Roxio installed.

In Roxio version 9 I had no problem with this issue. Once the files were copied and one hit the "eject" command, one was immediately asked if complete the task. This is not a pop-up that is seen with version 10. I must be missing something that is really basic.

Thanks again,

Pete

Actually there is nothing in the last 2 versions that would allow Roxio to burn anything, doing it the way you described!

Only Vista would be able to burn a DVD utilizing one of 2 methods. Both of these would produce a DVD that was fully readable by any PC that has Vista or XP.

With Roxio, you must open a program like Creator Classic or Burn Data and add the files to a pane in there. After that you would be able to click 'Burn'. NOTHING in Roxio will allow you just throw files at a drive.

Open one of the Roxio applications and click on Help - About and tell us what the Version Number is?

Hi Jim (aka Digital Guru),

Thanks so much. I will try this and let you know the outcome. I probably won't get to it for a few days though. Sharing your knowledge and time (this goes for everyone) is appreciated.

Pete
