Problem With Slideshow Assistant

I just upgraded from Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 to Roxio Creator 2009. I'm trining to create a photo slideshow, but the Slideshow Assistant does not show up in a new window. When I click on photos and then on create a new slideshow, the outer blue frame of Roxio flickers a bit but does not open a new window. I uninstalled my earlier version of Roxio and Roxio Creator 2009 and the reintalled Roxio Creator 2009 with virus controls off, but the problem remains. I've run out of ideas. I hope that someone can help. Thanks!

See if VideoWave opens. It is more robust, when it comes to creating slide shows and video editing.
