Roxio Creator 2009 Issues On Vista 64

Cal516

Question

Platform: Dell Inspiron 530 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz

OS: Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001 x64

RAM: Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB

Installed Roxio Creator 2009 and EMC11 from web download files. Initially everything appeared to work however after burning 1 DVD I began getting the "Unable to build render graph" error. The solutions listed in the Roxio Knowledgebase did not work (they did not address Vista 64 and the Vista solution would not function).

I followed the instructions for a clean install shown in this forum to the greatest possible detail although many of the folders mentioned don't exist in Vista 64. I then re-downloaded Roxio Creator 2009 and EMC11 and did a new install.

Tried to create a video using VideoWave and found all Transitions missing. This error is mentioned in the Roxio Knowledgebase but again the solutions do not apply to Vista 64 (non-existant paths, etc.).

I'm really frustrated ... can anyone offer any suggestions.

I will keep my fingers crossed

Jim, thanks for risking joint damage. Apparently is was at least partially helpfull. Conducted another painful uninstall and reinstall (tested) then added EMC11 (tested). All major functions seem to be working. Actually created a quick movie and burned to DVD so, I have moderate confidence that this wll work. :)

I did discover 2 new issues during testing which, frankly, I can live with. Both MediaManager and SyncIt produce the following error: Unsupported 16-bit Application - \??\C:\Windows\Twunk_16.exe is incompatible with 16-bit Windows. :(

If the answer to his turns out to be a clean install I'll just live without this functionality.

It really is odd that you are getting all of these problems… For most it is either Works – Don't Works!

The Media Manager is of dubious value to most users. Some find it indispensable, I have never used it and always go to pains to turn it off (msconfig).

Jim ...

I agree. If these two marginal apps are the only i have problems with I can live with the whole package. Thanks for your help.

Since this post I did another clean install. Transitions are now there but now I cannot launch MyDVD - error message says "No permissions to launch application." I think I'm close to calling for my money back. How can it be this hard to install an app, or to uninstall it for that matter?

Permissions is a Windows thing… You will have to, yet again, do another install. Only this time you want to create a New Account on your system and give that account Full Privileges.

No it should not be all that hard, however there is a lot going on and in almost every case there is something on the purchaser's system that is causing the problem.

Thanks very much for your response. I did discover an error in my uninstall process at about 2:45AM last night ... I had system files hidden in windows explorer, so I missed a few files in the delete process. I'm going to try that agaim before I create a new account whcih brings with it many other issues I would rather not face. The Clean Install instructions done mention this but I picked it up from another set of Clean Install instructions from anther Roxio product which cam up during an web search. I'll let you all know if this does the trick or simply gets me back to the first error.
