Here's What I Have: Easy Cd & Dvd Burning

rynegold

Question

Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burning

Version: 9.0.554

Build: 905B54T, R01

Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Copyright: Sonic Solutions 2006

Module Name: PX Engine

Build: 3.4.45a, 3

Copyright: Sonic Solutions 2006

Module Name: Roxio Core

Version: 3.4.0

Build: 340B65B,

Copyright: Sonic Solutions 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keep in mind the ONLY way I know this is because it's under the help help key and... it still doesn't tell me what version I have by way of comparison to what is offered in roxio's software updates.

There's lots of flames on the front of the CD; very helpful. I guess simplicity is a lost cause for the roxio people as I see numerous cute names for all sorts of stuff they make; maybe those cds have acutal names rather than flames.

Anyway, the audio cd function (the only thing I use the programe for) no longer works; it could find a blank disc, tell you what space was or wasn't available and then when you hit the red continue button, nothing would happen except the cd drive lite would come on breifly, and the little windows hourglass would appear for a while then go away. Several tries later, still nothing.

So I uninstalled and then reinstalled the program and additionally....this engine update which, since there's no real information about what I actually own, looked about right:

http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/ecddvdc/s...esv6_plat.html#

Now it won't even recognize the drive. Which is by way of window's device manager is working just fine.

So whats up with this?

Nero is soooooo much simpler.

"So it appears you have some form of OEM Roxio software."

It came in a nice little box for $49.95 straight from BestBuy...

Now my PC won't recognize either of my CD drives having anything in them.... they both are ok in the device manager and will open and close, but no matter what you drop in there, the machine doesn't think anything is there.. I get a "insert cd" message even though there's one in the tray. On both drives.

Try this to get your drives recognized, again:

What you have (Version: 9.0.554) is the cut-down Version known as "Easy CD and DVD Burning", which comes in a red box. It costs around 1/3 as much as the full Version. It has it's own Forum -

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showforum=144

and if you post any additional questions you might have there, you'll be answered by people who understand which Version you have.

Lynn

PS - that does not preclude posting back here and letting firenhancer know if that worked.

Thanks to all for the input.

The pxengine did work as far as reinstalling/recognizing the drives and getting them to work however, I still can't burn a cd. Same problem comes up with the red button..

I hit the red continue button, nothing happens except the cd drive lite comes on breifly, and the little windows hourglass appears for a while then gos away.

Still no burn/progress meter.

Your version number is in the second line of your 1st paragraph

The update you applied was for Easy CD & DVD Creator 6, so you have got everything screwed up.

So, try uninstalling from your Add & Remove programs in the Control Panel then run this http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000086CR then install from whatever disc you have.
