Recording Method

conradmetz

Question

While attempting to create a double layer DVD data disk, I received an error message saying "The recording method selected . . . is not Read-Only. . . please select Read-Only as the Record Method."

I have looked high and low but can find neither an instruction nor a "button" which leads me to a setting for "Record Method."

And the program, in the Roxio suite that you are using, is?

Have you tried Creator Classic? It too, is one of the programs in the suite.

After clicking on "Burn", expand "Burn options". Locate the Check box "Read-Only disc" under General options.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I followed your instructions and was able to burn my disc with no problems.

Should not be a problem… Roxio will write multi-sessions to any DVD+R DL disc.

However it is incapable of writing multi-sessions to a DVD-R DL disc…

I guess we can assume that you are using 'dash' Double Layer?

No, I was using a DVD+R DL disc, but I had failed to adjust the burn options. However, "firenhancer" pointed the way (adjust the burn options to Read-Only) and I was able to burn the disc with no problem.

Hi Conrad,

The thing is you should be able to burn a DVD+R DL data disc without closing it [setting to read-only] so that you can write another session later as long as you didn't fill the DVD up. If you were using a DVD+ [Plus] disc, you shouldn't have been forced to set it read-only, which is why Jim thought you must have a DVD- [Dash] disc.

Are you using version 9.0, or 9.1 ??

What amount of data were you putting on the disc?

Regards,

Brendon
