Disk Problems After Burn

faceofboe

Question

Hi there I recently purchased Roxio Creator 2009, my problem is that everytime I burn a dvd, when I watch it back it freezes about 60 mins in and I can no longer watch. Is this something I can change in Roxio? Or is it more likely to be the discs I am using?

A 4.7GB DVD will only hold 60 minutes of best quality video. So how did you create the 60+ DVD?

I think the programme asked me whether I wanted to change quality to fit it all on the disk, to which I answered yes. And as for creating it, I just added the media file and clicked on burn.

As Walt asked, its important to also know Media type (Memorex, Store Brand, Verbatim, also; R or RW, also; + or - type)? Are all the burned discs from the same spindle / pack? Also, have you tried viewing it on your pc or another dvd player?

As GPB suggested, try burning a Verbatim disc, at a slow speed, and see what happens.

As to the discs you already burned and seem to "stick" around the 60 minute mark, consider downloading this neat program discussed by Brendon in this thread in post no. 5. If you can run a disc quality check, you'll see if there is a problem with the discs.

I have ordered some Verbatims and will let you know how I get on with them.

There could be a few problems with your burn. Here is an article that helps eliminate some variables:

Let us know if this helps

Very little information to work with.

Where are you watching the DVD? On your computer system or a stand-alone player connected to a DVD? What are the steps you took to burn your DVD? What DVDs are you using? How long (in time) is the video you burned?

Watching the dvd on a standalone dvd player. The dvds are usually movie length so about 90 mins plus, What I dont understand is that it only seems to always happen to a couple of chapters around the hour mark, if i skip chapters I can watch the end of a dvd. I Never had this problem with Nero.
