Creating Slide Show

Pete1978

Question

Good afternoon,

A problem has surfaced with the outcome of creating a photographic slide-show DVD using Creator Suite 10. When playing the DVD it was discovered that the VideoWave tool unintentionally “crops” the photos, either vertically, horizontally or both.

Please, has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know of a remedy?

Thanks so much,

Pete

That's called tv overscan and has nothing to do with the software. You can use a free program, such as Image Cropper to bulk "size" your photos to a smaller size, that will fit within the "safe zone".

Hi Grandpa Bruce,

Thanks for recognizing this problem and providing me with a solution. I can't imagine having to individually resize each photo.

Just so I understand... After employing Image Cropper to properly resize the images and then brining them into VideoWave, is there anything that needs to be done?

Again, thanks,

Pete

No, but since all televisions aren't the same, I would do a small project first, and test burn a DVD, and see how it looks on your television. In Image Cropper, I use 80%-85%, for the Safe Area Size, under the More Options button.

"...the VideoWave tool unintentionally “crops” the photos, either vertically, horizontally or both"

Could you explain what Videowave "tool" crops your photos. Some questions:

1--Are you referring to the photos having a black border on the sides or top ?

2--Are you suggestion that your photos have physically been cropped from the original leaving less of the photo ?

3--When playing the DVD on a DVD player after you burn the production, are the photos being cut off on the top and bottom ?

4--When you made the Videowave production did you use the TV safe Zone tool or Icon to show what portion of the photo will show when playing the DVD ?

5--Where did the original photos your used in Videowave come from ?

6--When you plaqy or "REVIEW" the Videowave production in MyDVD program, are the photos cropped there also ?

Hi Frank,

1) I am not referring to the black border. If a photo fills my computer screen (horizontally), then the cropping affects each side of the photo, equally. If the photo fills my screen (vertically), then the effect is top and bottom. If 100%, then the cropping both vertical and horizontal.

2) My photo files are not affected and remain the same size. It's in VideoWave that the cropping takes place.

3) Yes

4) I did not use the safe zone tool only due to having thousands of photos. The time this would take to manually "size" them would be far too long.

5) I scanned them employing an Epson scanner.

6) No

Again, thank you for your time and it appears that there does exist a solution via "Image Cropper".

Hi,

That is sound advice and I will do just that.

Thanks for sharing your thought,

There is no cropping done of your photos in Videowave, they just appear that way when viewed on a TV because of overscan as explained in other posts. Tthis actually applies to any video not just images). On you computer monitor you will see the full image.

The "safe Zone" is not a tool but only shows approximately what you might see on your TV screen
