jpeg
I don't think playback for Bluray protected content is supported. I have the same issue, as well. I guess the answer is defined in the use of 'creator' vs 'player', as best as I am reading about this matter. What a dissapointment in Roxio, to make this suite and my paying for the blu ray plug in, and 'Cineplayer' kinda hints at 'playing' something, such as DVD's, and in my case HD DVD's and Blu Ray DVD's. If I had this information, posted in this thread, prior to making my purchasing decision for this software I would have not purchased it. It's that simple. People can lay it out there that Cineplayer/CR2009 does not play commerical DVD's. However, it's people like me that keep this company afloat and a more 'user friendly' response, or notice of limitations in/on the packaging advertising of this software would be greatly appreciated vs just being explained away. Surely Roxio can do better than this.
jl031256
Yes I do have other applications that play commercial blu-ray discs. My point is that a full featured digital media suite, such as Roxio Creator 2009, should have this built in to be competitive with the Nero's of the world. This post might help somebody that is looking to purchase a suite and will inform them of the Creator 2009 limitations. I feel that this should be a standard feature offered by Creator 2009, especially when you have to dish out extra dollars for the blu-ray plug-in. gi7omy
Actually it does play commercial DVDs - just won't copy them due to legal restrictions on breaking CSS Why it won't play Blu-Ray (or WMP won't play Blu-Ray) - I haven't got a clue. Nero is a German based company - maybe the laws there are different regarding commercial Blu-Ray - that's something for a lawyer to work out
gi7omy
The plug-in is to create Blu-Ray - the suite, in case you failed to notice, is CREATOR 2009 (it creates) As pointed out, Blu-Ray drives come bundled with Blu-Ray playing software - but I would doubt if they come with creation software
jl031256
As far as I know, Cineplayer will play back a Bluray disc that you have burned, but Cineplayer does not support playback of a commercial Bluray disc. If this is the case, then I would say that Nero is one up in this department, as the NeroShow application plays commercial Blu-Rays with no problem. This with the Nero 8 version, not even the newer 9 version. I have Cyberlink PowerDVD that does play commercial Blu-Rays also. You would think that the extra amount that you have to dish out for the Roxio Creator 2009 Blu-Ray plug-in would allow for this possibility? jl031256
I just installed Creator 2009 on my computer and I get the same error message. I have the Blu-Ray plug-in installed also and my internet connection is working, as I'm writing this post on the same computer. You would think that this brand new piece of software, circa 2009, would play Blu-Ray discs? I have two other applications installed on my computer that do so already. If anybody has any ideas, please post.

jl031256
I think it's just a licensing issue. Roxio would have had to dish out some dollars to get Cine Player to play Blu-Rays. I'm pretty sure that as people come to expect this from a full featured digital media suite, such Creator 2009, Roxio will eventually add this function. At least people reading this post will know what to expect, as to Cine Player's HD playback limitations.
