Temporary Files Of Sound Editor

satix001

Question

How can I open and save as mp3 temporary files of Sound Editor?

For example, C:\Documents and Settings\...\Local Settings\Temp\rse3.tmp

The problem is: my computer was restarted while recording a sound in Sound Editor. Now I have temporary file rse3.tmp but Sound Editor do not open it. I suppose that audio information is safe and stored in this file.

Do you get some kind of error message when you try and open the file? That file is just a temporary storage location for Sound Editor while you are working on a file.I would think that .tmp would be an unregognized file format for it to open by itself.

There is a filter for wav, mp3, ogg and wma files only in Sound Editor in File->Open. I tried to rename tmp file to mp3 and etc. The error messages are:

- The following file is a protected WMA file and cannot be edited with Sound Editor

- Unable to open the file for editing

Yes, this file is just a temporary file. But all recording data seems to be stored in it because Sound Editor does not use RAM for it and size of this file is very big.

I'm not real sure what you've got going there. Will Windows Media Player play the file?Your error says it's a protected WMA file.If it will you might try burning it to a cd with WMP.After that you should be able to use it again in Sound Editor.I'm not sure how if you were recording with Sound Editor you ended up with a protected WMA file.
