Error On Burning

I get this error in roxio when i want to burn:

 

Sense: 04 ASC: 44 ASCQ: 8D (Command 00)

I searched for it on google but cant find anything on the ASCQ code.

Found only something on 4 - 44

And that is a hardware error i thought

But its a new laptop.

The MMC standard lists Sense: 04 ASC: 44 ASCQ: 00 as "INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE" and classes it as a hardware failure. The error code is generated by the drive, not the Roxio software.

 

Can you burn a disc with the built-in software in your Operating System? You can burn a CD with XP, or a CD\DVD with Vista. I think that would be a good test to see if your drive is working properly or not. It's not completely unknown for hardware on a new computer to be DOA [Dead On Arrival].
