Write Speed: No Common Speeds

socialgen

Question

I'm in Music Disc Creator. I'm attempting to burn my list of music with my external Drive a TSSTCorp DVDRW DL from Drive E: because my Drive D: writer doesn't work. I'm given two choices Drive D and Drive E. If I uncheck Drive D and attempt to burn just to my drive E writer it reads:

No Common Speeds in the Write speed box and will not allow me to burn. If I leave both boxes D and E drive checked it goes about as if it is going to burn them at common speed optimal speed 24x, but then I get a pop up ballon at my Drive E burn stats that says select drive speed. When I do select optimal 24x the balloon goes away for about 5 seconds and returns over and over and over and over and over and over again. I've tried shutting down rebooting depowering to see if it was a simple recognition issue, but now I'm annoyed. Same deal.

What's going on?

Thanks

What type of media are you using in both drives i.e. to say are you using both DVD-r or +r? If using different types, suggest using identical type and see if that helps.

Well I'm only trying to burn on the external drive, but what I've discovered is that it's just the disc FujiFilm CD-R 700mb that my external drive apparently doesn't want to recognize. I can burn fine on DVD R discs even though my Drive claims to be CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW compatible.

Thanks for your input.

Try going to the website support of the external DVD drive manufacturer and see if there are any 'updates'/firmware for that burner.

Frequently manufacturers of DVD drives issue updates so that the burners will recognize more 'brands' of CD/DVDs.

What kind of file are you trying to create on the CD? An audio CD, mp3 CD or what?

Have you tried other CD makes such as Verbatim?
