Wacky Forum

Hello,

Hey, I came to this website to figure out why my CD/DVD burner doesn't create music files. It stalls, eventually ejects the disk, and then at times the computer shuts down with a "blue screen". That's my motive for being here. After all, this is not YouTube and it's sure not a porn site. But I've got to tell you, this is one wacky website. First, I was hoping to find a link for a firmware update. I thought downloading a firmware update might solve my problem. If the download is at this website, I have no idea where it can be found. Then I said to myself, "Galileo, how about going to tech support?" Well, that didn't work either. I wrote a discription of my problem in the field provided by this website, but when I clicked to submit it, I received a "ticket error". And to think I bothered to proofread too. Being something of an idiot, I tried again, and of course I failed again. Then I saw where I could have a real time discussion with a Roxio tech expert. I wonder where that link is. I haven't been able to find it. I then tried to submit an entry into this portion of the website. No go. I was denied. So, after wandering around in this website, clicking on some random links, I found some "registration page" that supposedly would permit me to contribute to this area of the website. So, anyhow, I'm not sure if this message will be visible or not. I'm going with 4-1 against, but let's find out...

Your Friend,

Galileo Smith

Hi Galileo,

this forum has been called many things but I've not yet heard 'wacky'. This is a users forum made up of people like you and me who try to help each other based on what we've learned using the various Roxio/Sonic programs.

Since Roxio doesn't sell hardware (net yet) there would be no reason to have firmware on this site.

I would suggest that you post in the appropriate area, what version of the software you are using and then list the steps you are taking to create your music files and any errors or problems you have. Be specific. Then, list your computer info much as I have below my name.

Hi,

It's me again. I'm not GalileoSmith this time because the website did not identify my password. So I received a new password, which also was not identified by the website. So I made a new forum name. See, that's where I get the notion that this is a "wacky" forum. I'm pretty sure this message will not go anywhere either, so I don't think I'm going to proofread. My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Manton, would turn over in her grave, assuming she's dead.

Anyway, I appreciate your response. However I don't know where the "appropriate area" can be found at this website. I'm of course leery that I can post there should I find it, given my experience up to this point. I will admit that I'm finding it all something of a challenge. I've been at the interent for about six or eight years and I first owned a PC in 1988 ($1400 and all of 100 megabytes), and I still recommend going at it with a sense of humor.

Your Chum,

Galileo Smith

Maybe you can get a friend/neighbor/relative to help you find out what Roxio program you have and then go to the appropriate forum here http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?act=idx (scroll down to find the program you have).

I don't understand what you mean by "was not identified by the website".

Obviuosly the website identified your password otherwise you could not post here.

You cannot post or connect to the "help service" until you have registered which you have done now.

A sense of humour is needed for anything to do with computers especially they have their own sense of humour

The OP was GalileoSmith.

The second post was as Galileo.

It brings to mind when the Digital Gurus were having problems with password recognition; some even aquired second identies because of that. Most still use FireFox to get on, since it was discovered FireFox doesn't seem to have as much of a problem.

After the second time I coudln't get on with Internet Explorer 6 (altho I could do it at other comptuers), I logged in on FireFox. I've stayed logged in, and had no problems. However, since the problem occured when I was logged in with IE 6, I'd say that FireFox is th solultion, even more than staying logged in.

I notice OP hasn't been back under either name - perhaps because both identies are now blocked. If so, that could explain a lot of 'post-and-run' threads :(

Jeeze, it has been less than 24 hours since he posted ! Perhaps he (she) spent time with family on Sunday afternoon.

No one would have blocked him. As you pointed out via remembering back, the problem with logging in was during a major change in the forums and I don't believe anyone else has had problems since then. I use IE (for these forums) and log in and out semi-frequently from different computers.

I would assume that the problem would be more related to log in spelling errors and caps vs no caps.
