I Can't Get Roxio Slideshow Assistant To Locate .dmss Files

Just Joe

Question

I have Creator 8, 9, & now 2009 and none of them can find the .dmss file that I have created. The only way that I can open the slideshow assistant up is to go to Windows Explorer and select the file from there. Is there any way that I can get this to happen through the program?

The Roxio Slideshow Assistant cannot be used to reopen a previously created slideshow  If you saved it with the Assistant , it can only be opened in Videowave by using File/Open Production and then follow what Jim has posted.

That is one reason to avoid using the Wizards - they are very restricted in what you can do with them. You are much better off using Videowave to create slideshows; it also offers muany more features.

Walt: Actually you could in earlier versions.

The Slideshow Assistant does not have any File Open command but will open with a dmss file if you double click it.

I think V7 had the only Slideshow Assistant that actually had a file menu.

Like you, I have never used it but only poked it with a stick to see what some of these posters were asking about.

It is odd that it allows you to save but the only way to load that project is to exit the program (it can't be running) and double click the dmss file in Explorer???

Of course the better option is open it in VW as I detailed in my other post.
