Burning Dvd From Hd Files

Cold Steel

Question

With the limited edition of Roxio 2009 I can add both VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders in the Data Mode and burn DVDs with whatever other data I want to add (like .mp3 files and folders), and the written disk will play on my DVD player. My professional version, however, won't let me do that, but creates errors. Now I see that you have to go through an entire convoluted process using DVD Media Creator to make these disks.

Why does Roxio make this such a huge pain in the &%$? Will upgrading to another version help?

I've also tried to update my program automatically, but get a message that reads:

Either you are not connected to the Internet or the Update Service servers are

currently unavailable.

Click Retry if you know that you are connected to the Internet.

Click Cancel to skip the check for updates.

If they're unavailable, they've been that way for more than a year now. What gives?

You're not talking about an OEM edition of Easy Media Creator 9 are you? That's a whole 'nother animal entirely from Roxio Creator 2009, and is dealt with in the Legacy forums along with EMC 9 since it is two versions behind. The OEM version of EMC 9 has special capabilities and restrictions requested by the Original Equipment Manufacturer [OEM] and has been out for over a year now, while Creator 2009 has only just come out.

You, sir, are absolutely correct. I saw the "9" and didn't think. My mistake.

Coming up to the present 2009 version, are there similar restrictions? (I have both the LE and boxed version of Easy Media Creator 9.) Alas, it also was impossible to put both on one system, which made things difficult.

Can you tell me if the new version is much better?

Thanks.

Creator 2009 supports AVCHD and will output to Blue Ray if you have a burner or will output AVCHD to a standard DVD (about 20 minutes) if you have a player that will play the AVCHD format. I have a Canon HV 30 that captures in HD mpg2 and it works well for me.

There is a lot of difference between EMC 9 and Creator 2009. Make sure your computer far exceeds the minimum requirements.

What Roxio limited edition and professional edition are you talking about? I have never heard of either of those two. As far as I know there is the Standard and Ultimtimate version (plus a Special Edition sold only through CostCo and such).

I have no idea what convoluted process you you are referring to. Perhaps if you were to give a bit more than "my car won't start" someone might be able to help with your problem.

Those connection messages you get are most likely due to the firewall you are using. Allow connection to Roxio or disable the firewall while connecting.

Cold Steel,

I'm a version collector where possible, and I've not heard of a Limited Edition of Roxio 2009.

Most of the OEM versions don't have updates, so their update service has been disabled at the request of the OEM.
