Very Odd Error Popped Up After All This Time

Bobmitch

Question

I don't know if I caused it or if it happened on it's own. I have 2009 Special Edition. Over the past few days...Software manager would pop up and tell me that I had updates available...so I just closed it, choosing to ignore. Then, this evening...I opened Roxio Central and the software manager popped up again...I closed it and then the program failed to load....telling me to insert the Installation media...so I put my disk in and some kind of repair took place. Now here is the odd part. I opened up Software manager through the Roxio Central Help menu and had it look for updates. I got the following error:

"The Software Manager does not recognize this product. Please contact your software vendor for updates to this product. Error 13003: Version not registered with the FLEXnet Connect"

To add insult to injury...now Cineplayer won't load, either. Funny...I have used it as my primary source to watch DVD's on my PC. Actually watched about four movies on it with no issues...and now this. I haven't run Windows update since last week. Watched movies since...

I am lost at this point for words or a solution...

Any thoughts appreciated

Thanks

Bob

The update is actually for Flexnet - however it's not yet available for direct download so if Flexnet doesn't work, then there is a severe problem.

I'll pass this along to the powers that be if I can get hold of them

I just uninstalled 2009 SE and cleaned out my registry. I am gonna reinstall and see if I can at least fix the CinePlayer issue...

The update manager kept popping up...I kept closing it. So when I voluntarily tried to access it...I got the error...is it possible that it tried installing without my permmission?

I uninstalled 2009 SE...cleaned out my registry...cleaned up the HDD...and reinstalled. Now everything seems back to normal. Video Capture works...all modules, etc. Watched part of a movie with CinePlayer...all seems fine after reinstall. I wonder if the patch "download" messed something up in the settings?

Glad you got it sorted - I did fire off a message regarding the update but so far haven't had any reply.

Normally updates are available for both auto and manual download but in this case the manual one isn't there.

Hold off on any update until something gets sorted. Even though it says it's critical' it's actually just an update for the update manager
