Burning Files To Dvd

tynecub

Question

Hi there

Needing some help although I will have not been the first to ask this question I am sure and not use to Roxio not sure what direction to go. I have looked through the support menus' and also in discussion but without any joy. Any way please bear with me as I am a novice to using this application.

The version of Roxio I am using is "Roxio Creator Home 10". I have used DVD shrink to open a DVD and it has placed these files on my desktop in a folder. The types of files are "BUP" "IFO VOB" etc. My question is what or how do I create a DVD to burn from here?

I am sure that there will be a simple method but do not find the format of the software easy to navigate around so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I trimmed your quote out since it was a bit confusing.

Okay, so you have a 'teaser' version which is designed to provoke you into buying the full version. Try this then . . .

In the Home menu do you have a Data Disc option like this? I apologize for the size, but the Sonic coding won't allow resizing the work area.

If so, rename your DVD-Video folder to VIDEO_TS in Windows Explorer, and then run the Roxio software and come to the Data Disc option.

-click on the button 'Add Data' and select 'Add Folder'. Find and select your VIDEO_TS folder. It should then show like the picture.

-go down to the right and click on the little 'Options' button. This box should open

-Go to the Data and Backup option, and click the radio button for 'I only need to use discs for one recording.'

-you can leave the Verify box checked it you want, but it's probably best to un-check it. It works for me, but it makes the process twice as long and doesn't work properly for some folks.

-put a blank DVD in your drive, then go back to General > Advanced and select your DVD burn speed. Remember, faster isn't necessarily better.

-click OK at the bottom of the options screen, and then the orange Burn button.

When I do this in my system it makes a DVD-Video compliant disc which will play in any of my players.

If you don't have 'Data Disc' but do have the more useful 'Creator Classic', come back and I'll tell you how to do it there.

Brendon

Hi again,

My good friend CDANTEEK has pointed out to me that the last method won't work on his Sony or JVC player despite the DVDInfo program from Roxio saying it's dvd-compliant. It plays on mine, but he says my player would play a piece of toast if you didn't spread the peanut butter and jelly too thick. :)

He points out that for your purpose and since your supplied software won't do the trick, IMGBurn would be ideal. It's a free download here, and the discs it burns will play even on his players

Thanks cd. You always come through.

Hi Brendon

Thanks for that I have finally done my first DVD on this machine. Although I think I may upgrade at sometime and I am sure that I will be back for some more.

Thanks again

Hi Tynecub,

That's not the version, it's the name of the menu application shared by several versions. :)

Never mind, let's hope you have a version of Easy Media Creator 10 which includes 'Video Copy and Convert'

If you go to the 'Copy Guide' of the Home application, you should see an item 'Copy Disc'. Click on that and you should get to another application called Video Copy & Convert [or VCC].

post-208-1226213672.jpg

-Select DVD Video Copy [yellow button], and in the Source side of the screen click the pulldown button to show "Browse for Disc Image/DVD-Video Folder" [ringed]

-You have a DVD-Video Folder. It's the folder with the .BUP, .VOB and .IFO files. Select that Browse button and locate and select your folder.

-Select your destination if you have more than 1 burner, insert a blank DVD and wait for it to spin up and be recognized.

-Set your desired burn speed, and number of copies. By now the 'Copy Now' button should be alive. Click that, and you should be burning.

I think that should do the trick.

Cheers,

Brendon

Thanks for the information.

I have creator Premier and when I hot the copy disc I only get the option of the two drives that come up and can not get to the next stage.

I have use Roxio on my previous PC and this Dell PC came with this software included, so would it still do the same job or worth upgrading?

Thanks again
