Cineplayer Insufficient Video Resources

When trying to play a dvd I get an error message saying "insufficient video resources" and cineplayer will not start. I have a Pentium 4, 2GHz, 512MB RAM, Display Adapter 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra with an up to date driver. Do I need more RAM? A newer video card?

Doesn't sound like a Direct X compatiable card. Your system is on the lower end of system requirements.

Are you running Roxio Creator 2009? Did you read the system requirements before you purchased the software?

That Rage card won't cut the mustard with the software. And, as cdanteek said, your computer is low end, to use the Creator 2009 software.

It should work, however, if you upgrade your video card. There are still some good AGP slot, video cards being made.

You can get your $$$ back if you bought from Roxio w/i the past 30 days; if you bought from someone else, just check w/ your retailer's return policy....

Had the same insufficient Video Resources Problem. Using DeLL Dimension 8200 with a NVIDIA GeForce 2MX. I updated the video driver directly from NVIDIA and then started to get the Insufficient Video error. Went to Microsoft XP upgrades and got a message that I needed an upgrade to the NVIDIA driver. Checked Install and Microsoft down loaded and installed the driver. Problem solved. Looks like the same driver but for some reason when NVIDIA installation didn't work.

Yes it is Roxio Creator 2009. The only thing I was unsure about when I bought it was the DirectX 9 requirement. I loaded the program and used it for photos, no problem. When I hit a snag with video I tried to download DirectX 9 and install it but I qam having problems with that too. I think the video card is just too old. Guess it is time to upgrade. I was thinking about switching to a MAC but if I do it looks like Roxio is compatible for Windows only. Oh well thanks for the help anyway.

Yeah I kinda figured the video card was the problem, just wanted a second opinion. Time to upgrade. At this point I think it might be better to just get a whole new computer rather than just the video card. I've added the DVD burner, more RAM and such over the years but at some point you just got to start over. I was thinking of switching to MAC and now I see Roxio appears to be for Windows only. Oh well live and learn. Thanks for the post.

You can get, better yet make, a new computer. You can use your old one as a backup computer.

Actuially Roxio is the company - Creator is PC only, but they also produce Toast which is for Macs

Most Macs come with iLife. That program is a lot like the built in applications in Windows; e.g. Windows Movie Maker, Photo Gallery etc.; perhaps a little more sophisticated.

Toast 9 is an program that extends the abilities of ILife so that you can capture live audio and make various kinds of discs.

Since I'm a new user of a MacBook Pro (first ever non-pc) I haven't learned much yet so the various versions of EMC or Creator seems to give me more options.
