Fade In Video

oprexiousme

Question

HELP!

I need to fade-in video clips so its not choppy cut to cut to cut.

I know it is probably simple and I am just missing it somewhere  , but I couldn't even find anything about it in the tutorial besides audio fade-in (which I can do fine).

I couldn't find a simple fade option in the video effects, and I looked all around the program as much as I could, is there something someone can suggest?

I'll also need it to fade from an image (overlay) back into the video as well if possible.

Please let me know ASAP, I'd really like to finish this movie up and I keep putting that part off til last.

Thanks very much in advance!

Look in transitions for the dissolve transition. That will fade out one while fading in another. If you want to fade in from a black (or other) screen, simply add a colored panel before the dissolve transition. I don't believe that you can use the dissolve transition without something before it. Dissolve can be run backward (?) and the edge thickness can be changed by clicking on the transition in VideoWave story line more and then "Show Settings" I think the default duration is one second but you can change that by right clicking on it.

Caution if you have many different transitions, by clicking on "apply to all" all your transitions will be changed.

Take a look through the Tips & Tricks section. They are called 'Transitions' and are based on what is before and after them. Dissolve, is one that might meet your needs.

Suggestion: While learning a program, don't put things off that you aren't sure off. Resolve them before you pour a lot of time into something only to find it can't be done because of the way your approached it…

I do, close to what Steve said to do. I have a photo, then after the photo, I put a dissolve transition, then a black panel, then another dissolve, then the next picture or video clip.

You will have to play around with time that the photos, transitions, and black panels are open. Nothing in video editing is really simple.
