ameneses
Dear users: I have the following services running on my WINXP PRO setup: Roxio harddrive watcher 9 Roxio UPnP server 9 Roxio media DB9 Roxio UPnP renderer The thing is I DON'T have presently any Roxio software installed and would like to know what to do about them as they are probably hogging resources. I notice they are installed as EXE files in programs common files. Please advice

tbrewst
If you have no Roxio software on your machine did you get a QFlix drive? How about software with a Blackberry? Somehow you had Roxio software on your machine, sometime. If cd's suggestion doesn't work try going into the Control Panel,Add/Remove and see if you have anything Roxio,Sonic or Easy Media Creator listed. jeanrosenfeld
Or, if you simply want them not to load, go to services, scroll down to one, double click on it to open its properties and set startup type to manual (or disabled, if you are sure no software needs them). Repeat for the others. To open the services window, click start, run, type servies msc, click OK or press enter. I do have both EMC 9 and Media creator 2009 installed. All the Roxio services are set to manual. They start when the app needs them.

I did have roxio software on my computer, but not now. As I fully uninstalled the Roxio software, I don't want need or wanrt remanents on my system , I've been reluctant to delete the exe files that refer to these services. Brendon
Use cdanteek's suggestion. The Roxio software obviously hasn't fully uninstalled, and the clean uninstall procedure will fix that.
