Converting .ts Files

Question

I have many movie (audio & video) files on a hard drive in a .ts format that I would like to convert to MPEG-2 format. Can the Creator 2009 software convert .ts directly to MPEG2 or will the files first need to be converted to .avi first using some other software and then use the Creator software to take them from .avi to MPEG2? Thanks in advance.

I've not tried Creator 2009 with a .ts file yet but try it and let us know. But, I've had luck with VideoReDo and HDTVtoMpeg2. I've used both to convert to mpeg then had no problems with using those files in C2009.

Thanks for the response. But I have not purchased the Creator software yet. I want to make sure it can convert .ts first so I can hopefully save the time of two conversions (one w/video Redo and then Creator).

.ts is listed as a file type that Videowave can open and edit. I do know that with my .m2t files, Videowave/MyDVD will convert them BEFORE adding them to the project. Your files should work just fine.

Sorry, not really sure what you are saying. Is videowave/my dvd part of the Creator software? Sorry, somewhat new to this.

Both are part of Creator 2009 - it's actually a whole suite of apps

Yes…

VideoWave is the Editor and has Output As selections.

MyDVD is DVD Movie Authoring tool.

SyncIt is another but I don't' know what formats it accepts.

It is a little difficult to navigate with the Home app interface. Not sure what genius thought that removing the name of the programs was a good idea, but I hope he got laid off…

Go into the Video – Movies tab and play in the Edit and Transfer area…

VW is available directly through the Start – All Programs~~~

Videowave is for editing video

MyDVD is for DVD authoring which creates the DVD menus and burns the disc.

Creator 2009 , as pointed out, is an entire suite that includes data burning, audio capture and editing, burning audio CDs and audio DVDs, Drive Image loader, plus a lot more.

Yes you can.

Here's how: HOME > Data-Copy > Convert DVD-Video

From the resulting window under Video Compilation > Add your VIDEO_TS folder/files,

On the other side of the window, Destination , under FORMAT select MPEG-2 format from the drop down menu.

Select OUTPUT to > DISC or FILE

Under OPTION, if you want to encode 2 or more films into one DVD5 you can select how it will be played.

Hit BURN and have a coffee.

Good luck! But first buy it!
