Toast 9.0.4 Fixes Pixelation In Mpeg2 Bds On Dvd But...

Question

I Updated to 9.0.4 last night.

With version 9.0.2, when when I put a mpeg2 file into BD format on standard DVDs, it used to have large pixelation and blocky artifacts very often. Sometimes as often as every 30 seconds. Sometimes not quite as often.

Well, I just watched a 45 minute episode all the way through, and that problem wasn't there, but most of my HD content (which I have been waiting to burn until this update) Toast won't accept without wanting to re-encode. With 9.0.2, I could use 95% of my content, and Toast would happily accept it without re-encoding. It would just re-multiplex. But again it would always be pixelated and blocky artifacts. Now it wants to re-encode just about any file I give it. I still have 9.0.2 installed and just verified, it won't re-encode the same file that 9.0.4 will re-encode.

I haven't tried letting it re-encode to mpeg4/AVC yet. There used to be a bad bug where the audio would get all out of sync. Plus it would take well over 1 day to re-encode a 45 minute show. Maybe I'll try that next, but I really don't want to spend all that time.

I'm curious of other peoples success (or lack thereof) with this update on these issues.
