Importing Video From Hdd Camcorder

har_hal

Question

Hi everyone,

I am new on this forum, and wonder, if anyone can advise me on a problem I am going to face in the near future:

I bought a new camcorder, Sony HDR-SR11, and was told that I could import video from it, using iMovie '08. I read many comments on Apple's site regarding this latest upgrade on iMovie, and most comments were very negative about its usefulness and value. Then I saw Toast 9 advertising that it can be used to import (and edit?) videos from HDD camcorders. My question is (before I buy it): does anyone have experience in using Toast 9 for importing and/or editing videos from an HDD camcorder?

I have an iMac with an 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB memory.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Many thanks,

HH

I'm not certain that Toast can import video directly from an HDD camcorder, although it might do it the same way it imports from AVCHD camcorders which is a setting in the Toast Media Browser.

Roxio has a 30-day (I believe) refund policy for users who buy Toast as a download from Roxio and decide it isn't what they want to keep.

You might also check if MPEG Streamclip can capture from those camcorders. If so you can use it to do some basic editing and then save the edited video for Toast to make into a video DVD.
