Copy Disc Doesn't Work, But 7.5 Do!

Lord.Sabbath

Question

Hi, it's sad to say that, but Roxio 2009 is a crap.

I just tried to copy a DVD to .iso format but the soft stopped the progress and warned me with something like this: "take a look if your disc has fingerprints".

The disc was 100% OK.

I tried to do the same job in version 7.5 and this version gave me exactly what I was needing.

I'm having million problems with current version, I can't copy music CDs, movie DVD videos and so on. Please, don't say again to do a 'clean install'. I have a 'dirty' very old 7.5 version installed in my Windows Vista that do all that its promised since its official release, except, unfortunately, for few jobs that involves IE 7 and Media Player 11.

Dirty 7.5 still rocks!

How could version 2009 be so bad??? Roxio 2009 has a mountain of incredible bugs, I do hope that Roxio give us a better release, I'm still refusing (at least for now!!!) to use products from other companies due to my (idiot?) consideration for the past releases (7.5 and others oldest)... Am I crazy to still believe in Roxio products?

Don't get me wrong, I just don't have a money machine.

Sorry for my English.

Thanks.

Well, it's possible that you are right. I'm not sure, but it's possible yes.

I had Roxio 2009 installed only. When I saw the bad-poor features to record a CD, I start to miss version 7.5. But I really had to come back to my favorite old 7.5 to copy a single DVD to ISO format, because Roxio 2009 definitively couldn't do this simple job... I have a very new PC with the best configuration that the money can buy. The only crap in my machine is the new buggy version of Roxio.

Now a I have a usefulness monster installed in my PC. I'm going to format it to delete forever Roxio 2009 and reinstall version 7.5 to the simple jobs I need and that it does.

I know the problems between 7.5 and IE7, Media Player 11 and so on - that's the reason I had the bad idea to do the upgrade. But, unfortunately, Roxio 2009 is a dead-alive, totally usefulness for some little jobs... Keep both versions is really not smart. Keep 7.5 - for incredible that it seems - is the best option.

Try to do a project for music-CD in both versions - the version 7.5 is much-much more powerful.

And about the bugs? Try to read the whole Forums or just try to use Roxio 2009. Ha!

What's is the worst: the bugs from Roxio 2009 or the partial incompatibilities between version 7.5 with Vista? That bugs, I say with conviction.

Well, I still hope for a better release, at least if Roxio Team do use Roxio 2009 or, even, read few of a LOT of posts about current version in this Forum.

Thanks a lot for replies.

Try making an image file first - then use that to burn the DVD.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame the software - the actual control of the drive is by the drive firmware which passes the info back to the app via the OS.

It's possible that the 'dirt' isn't the disc - but the laser lens has collected some gunk and that's what is causing it. While a drive may be able to read a disc, the laser power for writing is a different matter.

I agree with you 100% about 7.5 - unfortunately, MS, in their version of wisdom, wrecked it

If 7.5 does exactly what you want, why did you upgrade? You obviously don't use all of the programs in the 7.5 suite, or you would find out, real fast, that it doesn't work with Vista. ;)
