Video Copy & Convert Won't Launch

Mrsmac

Question

I purchased and installed Creator 2009 to use with Tivo to burn DVD's. But when I click on Video Copy & Convert - the Yellow title page loads , but the program never launches. I tried from both the Creator Launch page and directly from the Start menu - Apps.

I have tried a clean install (as suggested on previous posts) - feeling maybe some component was not installed making this application not load. But this made no difference - in fact it messed up my registry and I had to do a system restore.

As far as I know the other applications in Creator work - with the exception of the Drop & Drag convert ( I tried this as well for the Tivo recording) however I recieved an error stating that this program would not work with 64 bit Operating System.

Any suggestion to get this Application to run? Is there a way to only reinstall this one App? Or is there an update for Vista 64 bit?

Dell Studio 540

Windows Vista Home Premium

64 bit Operating

6 GB Ram

Core 2 Quad Processor

256 mb ATI radeon HD 3450

Jim,

I also have the same problem as the previous poster. Copy and Convert opens, but never launches. I haven't yet done a new install. Do you have certain instructions to follow on that? I have an HP computer with Vista as the operating system.

Thank you!

I'm not Jim by a long shot but here is his pinned post re: clean install for Creator '09.

Please report back & let us know if it works.

Let me know if the clean install works for you - I have tried 4 or 5 times and it is always the same, the "Copy & Convert" application will not launch.

You need to do the Clean Install…

I would like to hear a whole lot more detail on what 'messed up my registry' means?

The trick to Clean Install is to print it out so it is by your side and follow it step by step using the More or Less method. (Don't do More than it says and don't do Less)

But there are a couple of known install issues so details, details, details, would really help!

I followed the clean install instructions exactly as set out in the Knowledgebase article - ID # 000207CR. It didn't work the "Video Copy & Convert" application will not launch, all I get is the title page - and it stalls.

At one point I recieved 2 errors while trying to launch the "Video Copy & Convert" application: a runtime error - videocore11, R6025 Pure vitual functioncell - this happened when I was restarting the PC

The other error was in the "Media Manager" - error unsupported 16 bit Application, Program feature Twunk-16.execannot start or run, incompatibilty w/64-bit version of Windows - However after the window displaying the error shut down the program started - and as far as I can tell works

But the only feature on this program that I want to work is the "Video Copy & Convert" to use with my Tivo recordings

I don't know what other details you want - this is a brand new Dell PC, that more than meets the minimum requirements for Creator 2009 - if there is something specific you need to know - I will try to provide it

Twunk (TWAIN Thunker) is normally associated with scanners

Did you install any scanner drivers? It may be that you have installed the 16 bit version of TWUNK in error

The 'minimum specs' listed are a joke - to get the suite to work correctly requires a lot more than is listed (that's what happens when sales think they know more than tech ;) )

Now you need to print out the Clean Install instructions and go through them again, step by step.

It will work but you missed or left out something last time.

I have a HP All-in-one printer installed with a scanner - the printer itself works, but not th scanner etc. as the software is not compatible with Vista, the printer is a few years old and will be replaced eventually. But would this effect the Video Copy & Convert App? I didn't recieve the Twunk when trying to run that particular App. Infact all the other Applications run with the exception of the "Video Copy & Convert" it is the only one that won't even open.
