3-D Custom Overlays Dropped

Mark56

Question

After much reading and testing with Creator 2009, I still have one issue that I can't seem to resolve. I followed the instructions on burning by first establishing the settings in videowave to render in software. I saved the project, then opened up in MYDVD and saved it in ISO. This worked and burned. What I did notice is that the video overlays were dropped (3d custom).

When I go back to VideoWave and run the graphics test, it switches to render in Hardware which inicates that the graphics card will work with VideoWave. This makes the 3d overly available. I save the project. Opened up MYDVD then saved as ISO.

When I attempt to burn by using Copy and Convert it will encounter and error or even if it does to a full burn, the disc may start out playing then just stop about 10-12 seconds into the DVD.

I'm running HP Pentium4, Geoforce with updated diver, 3GB ram, 106GB HD, XP SP33. What am I missing or how can I resolve this?

One other question: Why is IE7 recommended?

All versions of DirectX for XP are 9.0c (Vista uses 10).

It's the release date that changes and the November release is now out on the MS boards

Why it's done this way - who knows ? (I doubt if even Redmond knows either :lol:)

I followed the instructions and updated DirectX. The install process went well. I opened up the ISO that I had created ealier the was saved in render in hardware and got these error when uning copy and covert:

"(Seek synch.atip or mechanical postioining err - Medium error. [03/02/00]

Sense Key=0x03

ASC=-x02

ASCQ=0x00

ULONG: error number =13020001

String: error string=seek, synch, ATip or mechanical positioning error - Meduim error.

I went back to my restore point and am now unable to burn the DVD in Copy and Convert without getting the same error. I tested by crating a slide show with about 25 pictures, no tranisitions, no audio. One is render in hardware, one in render in software. But gave me the same error. I also wanted to make sure the other components at leat still work, I was still able to burn audio CD's and make a Data DVD.

At least before, I was able to render in software save it MYDVD and create an ISO and burn. I'm hoping some has an answer to help me resolve this issue.

IE7 has nothing to do with Roxio, who recommended it to you?

The 'Hardware Test' as you have seen is not perfect. My card tests OK but it doesn't work either…

You would have to replace your card but it might be prudent to list what you have first.

Geforce is the 6 series. Updated the driver 2 weeks ago. How to you determine shared memory as to dedicated memory?

IE 7 is listed in the minimun requirements for Creater 2009, just above the recommended requirements on your system requirements page.

Jim doesn't work for Roxio, so it isn't his requirement. If someone works for Roxio, they will have the Roxio logo by their name.

I have Creator 2009 installed, and I don't, and won't have anything to do with IE 7. I run IE 6 (and Firefox) with no problems.

Oops sorry Jim. Anyway I won't use IE7 either, using IE6. Here is the link that said it: http://kb.roxio.com/content//kb/Creator/000199CR

Update on Geforce: 6200 Turbo cache TM 256 mb memory. Hope this helps in trying to resolve my original post on 3d overlays. Correction in original post it's a 160 GB, 70 used and XP3 (typo).

I am familiar with the minimum requirements of the software. The Roxio m-oron, who posted those minimums, should be canned. Those minimums are enough to start your computer, and nothing else. Whoever decided to post those minimums, never did any video work.

I believe that the NVidia (yuck) Turbo cache video cards, have had some problems. I am not sure that you can turn that Turbo cache off. I dumped my high end NVidia card, after having it installed for a year. I had to use Software rendering, which of course, killed any 3-D anything.

You don't 'update' DirectX in the same way as other MS updates - you download the file and run it. It will ask where you want it extracted to, use any name you like , extract to there and then open that folder and run the setup file.

It's some crazy idea from MS to do it that way

You may find that the problem was that the MS servers were a bit overloaded and that gave you the error

My link was to the DXWebupdate which is a small app that downloads only the files needed to update any specific machine. Microsoft servers were having trouble the other day. Just keep trying. I'll see if I can find a link the entire file.

Try this link. It's over 80MB and incldes all DirectX 9 updates. On the ones you need should install.

directx_nov2008_redist.exe, download it and save it to your hd, close out all programs, make your restore point. Disconnect from the internet, disable antivirus, then double click your directx_nov2008_redist.exe, and run it, reboot your pc when done..

cd

Thanks for directing me in the process. I actually had downloaded from the link you provided but didn't execute from the run command. I opened up the temp folder and saw all the CABS so I held back until I could get clarification. I installed and updated on my work PC. Still says the same version but some of the ddl's (many 3dx drivers) do get updated. When I get home, I will update and keep you posted on the 3d overlay issue. Just to make sure, since I already created an ISO rendered in Hardware which when previewed in MYDVD, showed all the overlays, before the burn problem. I should be able to go to the same ISO after updating DirectX and burn it or do I have to create it again?

I currently have Directx 9.0c. Is that an update to this version? According to the summary it says it is an update, just want to confirm. If it is I will update. I then should be able to go back to the ISO that was created with render in hardware and test to see if it will burn to DVD, right? After the DirectX update does it still display 9.0c or 9.25?
