Usb Capture

Question

I cannot get the 2861 video capture to popup to run. In both vista 32 and 64 bit systems. In both cases I get the message that a supported device cannot be found. However, it works fine on my xp computer. I would keep it on that computer but it has a small drive.

If it is the Roxio USB Capture device, the CD that came with it should have the Vista drivers. Take a look at this post.

Most of the gurus don't/won't have 64bit systems – too problematic.

You are connected to a USB port in the back of your PC???

It looks as thought the correct drivers are installed. I would delete the device, reboot and reinstall it per instructions.

If that doesn't work, I would grab the phone and call Tech Support!

Please keep us informed on what you find.

It really sounds like a faulty device, I think Support has the best solution!

I have found video capture performance with the new USB device to be very problematic under Vista because the Creator 2009 desktop shortcut as initally installed does not specify "Run as Administrator." Try changing this in the advanced properties of the shortcut or right click on the shortcut and choose "Run as Administrator." This fixed my operational problems, and my issues are now down to output quality.

The capture USB device is being used with windows movie maker. It works with windows xp but not with vista either 32 or 64 bit. I don't understand how the device would be defective. The drivers are on the dvd.

Other users with Vista have the device and use it without a problem. The install is pretty foolproof, but not impossible to mess up.

Plug in device – select cancel! Put in disc – select Driver Installation – remove disc when it is done.

How do you mess it up? You let Windows install the drivers by itself.

Did you try what 78s2CD suggests?
