Roxio Creator 9 Suite & Easy Media Creator 10 On Same Pc

Z_man

Question

 The PC I purchased came with Roxio Creator 9 Suite (basic), I purchased and installed Easy Media Creator 10 (from CD).

Roxio’s own support center states: There is no need to uninstall any previous versions of Easy Media Creator prior to installing Easy Media Creator 10, specifically Easy Media Creator 9. Easy Media Creator 9 was tested to work in conjunction with Easy Media Creator 10 to retain some features included with Creator 9 such as Disc Copier, DVDInfoPro, Drag to Disc, and SightSpeed.

Well it seems it does conflict.

Easy Media Creator 10 keeps giving me errors and does not allow me to open certain programs.

Program (error message)

Video Wave 10 & MyDVD (VideoWave 10 has stopped working: A problem has cause the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available)

MyDVD Express (run time error Shared\10.0\SharedCom\RoxWizardLaunch10.exe R6025)

I thought 10 had over written 9, but recently found 9 and clicked on it, sure enough the programs from 9 work fine. But not 10.

What would be the best solution, if not the easiest?

I would like to know how to either remove Roxio Creator 9 Suite, or leave it and make Easy Media Creator 10 the default.

Or will I have to uninstall just 9 or both 9 & 10, then re-install 10? (Clean Install)

This conflict would explain several of my other issues I have been having with Easy Media Creator 10, which common sense and your assistance have not seems to resolved. Mostly had us spinning our wheels.

As always your advice would be much appreciated.

I would advise a clean uninstall of both and then reinstall only one of the software suites.

10 is just an evolution of 9, and they're too intertwined to hope to surgically remove one without nicking strategic bits of the other. Nothing ever works properly after you've had your bits nicked. :(

 Well did everything to the letter removed programs 9 & 10, used Installer Clean Up Utility, msconfig, deleted from hard drive, exported my registry to flash drive, then edited registry with all the reboots took over an hour. Then install as new.

And guess what nothing changed still. :glare: Does not work as it should. And after reading the forums on here seeing how many other people have similar problems with the same sort of error messages, I wonder why I am wasting my time with a product that is not 100%. I have two older versions of Adaptec they worked fine. But Roxio products do not seem to measure up.

Most of my other software is insert CD install and away you go. But after reading the forums on here I will begin looking for other software other than Roxio or Sonic. The support help from Roxio runs you around in a loop. This forum appears to be the only information you can get to solve problems. Very disappointed in Roxio support and this product.

 Which unless anyone else would like to offer some advise???

Spent hours upon hours transferring home movies to the computer and can not edit then with Roxio.

 My next option will be to purchase another brand of software, extracting Roxio once and for all, then burn the Roxio CD and post the video of it after so everyone online will know how easy and simple it was naming the new brand of software used to make the video. Thanks Roxio for hours and hours of frustration for nothing. I will speak with my $$$ and move on. Key lessons learned read forums first before purchasing, red flags like it general does not install well, and has thousands of people asking for help, makes YOU work to fix it, lack of support help from software company.

Enough rank. Anyone with something worthwhile to add on how to get the software to work and start a general thread ranking about how it does not work maybe the company might smarten up and listen, Don’t hold your breath.

After the dust settles maybe try one more time, maybe been months fighting with error messages and programs in Roxio that do not run or open. And know I am not the only one.

Follow the directions from the websites to update both the below.

Before you purchase another software, read the forums for the competitors - if you can find one for some  You will find that users there are having exactly the same problems as some of the people here.

Thousand of Roxio/Sonic users do not have any problem installing and using the software.

And if you do decide to 'burn' the discs - wear a gas mask or you could end up posting to YouTube from a hospital bed

 WOW that was so simple!!! :) Thank you cdanteek !!!

Two simple things and done fixed working so far. No 2 hours to clean install etc…

Thanks to all the others who tried to help out as well..

Now a bit of back ground. This is was new computer, did all the upgrades, downloads, including the NVIDIA one knowing there were issues with it and Roxio. When the program did not work right the first time, I reformatted the hard drive, new computer nothing on it at all. Except the free Roxio Creator 9 Suite (basic), it seems came with.

Still did not work. Did the whole clean uninstall/install.

Did a few upgrade downloads, but forgot about NVIDIA..DAH?????

Like I ranked before I’m thankful for people who take the time to join and help others on these forums. I understand the “Digital Gurus’ have to deal with people who can’t find “the anything key” to people who try to solve the problems themselves as a learning experience. Sometimes problems are solved really simple and other times it’s a dah?? How did I miss that, This is an open forum so you can get every thing from the easy simple to the real impossible problems. You never know the level of experience of the person needing the help and how knowledgeable they are in fixing it. Years and years ago I had my first Timex Sinclair, and upgraded to a 286 adding my won hard drive, sound card, graphics to upgrade it. I have been around hardware but not great with writing software anymore. I work in communication sitting in front of banks of terminals and TV monitors. Where I get paid to keep us on the airs with out losing commercial$. The last thing after 25 years working in front of PCs is to come home and fight with my own. Today I’d rather sit back and enjoy mixing my music, editing my video as a hobby. I do not work in editing professionally, but did do some radio work back in the day. So thank you guys out there who still take the time and do a thankless job of helping others. Thank you ..thank you.. thank you

Guess no BBQ disks…
