Help! Set Manual Disk Size?

alex81388

Question

Hey all,

I'm trying to set the manual disk size for a burn but I can't find the option anywhere. Every other burning application I've used allows me to set the custom CD/DVD allowance for burns but Roxio seems not to...

For instance, instead of 700MB for a CD, I might want something like 720MB. Disks always handle it just find, its just I can't find where to do it.

Can someone help me out?

Thanks :)

For instance in NERO you can set the standard limit in the option window,

My version of Nero, my burner, and media won't let me set it.

Expert features (under options) using short lead out only enables your recorder to write about 12mb of additional data. My burner and tested Verbatim media only allow 82.00 minutes as absolute max overburning size.

What version of Nero model of burner and media allowed you to write it?

Nero Burning Rom lets me go to ~730MB no questions asked. Version 8.0.3.0

I don't know what kind of disks I use right now but they are dirt cheap I buy they packed in saranwrap for the best deal possible, blank top sides no company label. I've used the app on a couple burners, SONY's DRL dual layer line, the standard one in my HP 1660SE, a couple more low budget writers...

Im burning it with NERO now but I don't like NERO because it hogs my system. I like Roxio, I've used it before, but if I can't do what I want with it... well its just unfortunate.

EDIT::: Burning Rom -> File -> Options -> Expert Features -> All the Overburning is there

Cheap CDs AND overburning? EEEKK

How to lose data very fast

True, however it isn't vital data. Only occasionally do i run into the overburning problem but whenever I've done it for the past couple years I've never had a problem (except NERO taking up CPU...) *knock*.

Yes, I know....

Your Phillips based Drive is capable of overburning 'Can overburn CD-Rs up to 99 min' doing it with elcheapo media is something I would have to see.

What application from the EMC 10 suite are you using? There are several locations where you can set disc size but you have to give us more information

I'm simply trying to burn a CD. So I'll do it from anywhere possible. In the past, I've used Creator Classic and its been quick and smooth for everything but when I went through the menus I couldn't seem to find it.

thanks for the reply

Yes, but that that will not allow a custom size.

For instance, if I have an ISO that is ~730MB (almost any standard *700mb* CD+-r can fit), I can't do it. The closest things are 700MB and 790MB. It won't recognize the disks as 790 and therefor will not allow burn. For instance in NERO you can set the standard limit in the option window, is there any application in EMC that allows you to set custom sizes instead of the few presets?

Thanks
