Raises Hand With A Stupid Q?

phughesphoto

Question

I have Easy Media Creator 7 currently on my pc. The DVD will no longer burn so my sweet husband went out today and purchased Creator 2009. Oh and yes my DVD drive is fine but I continue to get errors of multiple numbers and I'm too tired of trying to repair it/find a solution to create photo shows for my clients.

Do I need to uninstall EMC 7 before I install Creator 9? Silly I know but Roxio can be finicky with me - sometimes! :lol:

I would think EMC 7 would be OK to leave on but I would not bother with it.

Those 'errors of multiple numbers' have meaning so without them don't expect anyone to be able to offer much.

How do you know your DVD is fine, if it doesn't burn it isn't fine??? (reading a DVD/CD is a test of nothing)

Of course a Clean Install will probably get it working but maybe not (not enough info). And it will remove EMC 7 which would be nice to retain in your case. Provide some more details and hopfully we can get your running.

Thanks gents!

#6 in my signature will take care of WMP 11 and the clean uninstall - reinstall for 7.& 7.5 in XP # 13 in my signature

I've researced the error numbers and they all pull the same info in a web search in which one topic brought me here - registry repairs. The continual error I receive is:

Error while examining drives

Result = 80004005

The DVD burner is fine because I had to use the less desired WinDVD Creator to put a wedding production on DVD but it was lacking in many ways compared to Roxio's EMC 7.

I guess I'll go for a clean install because EMC 7 is starting to nerve me . . . :blink:

If you have IE7 and/or WMP 11 installed on your system then EMC 7/7.5 will no longer work or with lots of problems :unsure:
