Roxio Video Lab 10

Question

Hi I just joined this forum? i guess is what it is and I've been going through the different area's for discussion on questions about products and problems with products, and I'm not sure where to post this question so i figured here is better than no where.

If anyone know the answer to this please tell me.

I just purchased Roxio MYDVD Video Lab 10 yesterday, it installed fine and I had no problems inputting video and after scratching my head trying to figure out the different menu styles i finally made a dvd menu and started to burn my movie, the movie burned in real time with two status bars and a preview window so you could see what point the movie was at.

I used Memorex DVDR's and my system is a vista laptop.

now my issue is that I burned the whole project all the way through, the disk popped out and a notification came up saying "burn complete" i popped it into my DVD player... nothing, nothing comes up, not in my dvd player, playstation 2 or on either of my 2 computers. the disk is full though according to my computer but when you click on it (On the computer) you cannot access anything on the dvd.

adn my dvd player and playstation 2 say that the disk is unreadable.

So I had thought maybe some of the options weren't configured right maybe? I went through all possible options and properties in the program and set the options to "burn once" and not have the option to add more content to the dvd and I also removed all the menu options and just burned the dvd file.

The files I am trying to burn are in AVI and MPEG format.

there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the program because i've gotten no error messages and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my dvd burner since it worked before and I only purchased a new dvd burning program because the one that came with my computer stopped working.

If you have any idea how I can fix this issue, please give me any input you can.

Thank you

When you look at the DVD you burned using Windows Explorer do you see a folder call Video_TS and within that folder are there files with the extensions IFO, BUP and VOB?

If not then you did not create a video DVD and what extension do the files on the DVD have?

When I insert the disk into my computer nothing prompts, usually when I insert a disk a window come sup and asks what I want to do, but with the disk I burnt you insert them into the computer and nothing come sup, there are no file sat all to be seen but apparently the disk is full.

I'm not completely PC term literate so you'll have to explain what you mean by "what extension do the files on the DVD have"

Using Windows Explorer, can you look at the DVD in the burner? Do any folders or files show up at all?

When you look at file on your hard drive, filenames should appear as "xxxx.jpg" or "xxx.mpg" or "xxx.doc". The "jpg", "mpg" or "doc" are referred to as extensions.

Unfortunately, very few here have Roxio Video Lab 10 and have any experience with it.

No Nothing appears at all when you insert the DVD, and nothing on the windows explorer either.

I thought maybe the program might be incompatible with my vista laptop

What Walt means by windows explorer, put the disc in the DVD Drive, open My Computer, right click the DVD Drive Icon with the disc inserted and click open or exploer. Do any files or folders show that way?

I did exactly that and now it says "Please insert a disc into the drive" if i just click on the dvd drive icon there's nothing on it, but when i click open it says insert a disk first.

I just installed the program now on my XP system and the burn process goes all the way through until it gets to 97% full status and then when its done it says "could not burn image to the disc"

does Roxio just not mesh with any system? is there a patch i need for it to work properly?

I'm just quite frustrated with this, i don't know what I'm doing wrong

Like Walt said, I doubt anyone is familiar with this product, I'm not. I copied the features from Roxio's page about your product, one thing that caught my attention is the bolded below. That 'Edit contents of a finished DVD movie disc' sounds like it's doing some VR Recording and you have options to close the disc? Are there VR and DVD Video options for recording? Your best option might be a call to tech support.

Sorry I couldn'r help.
