Installshield Continuously Runs When Starting Creator 2009

besharpone

Question

Well, I have been trying to install Creator 2009 for almost two weeks now. I have followed the instructions for doing a Clean Install, but each time that I install the program, reboot and then start Creator 2009, the Installshield starts.

It is a never ending process. I start the program, the Installshield starts, I re-boot. I start the program, Installshield starts, I re-boot, I start the program. I just goes on and on.

Also, after the initial installation, re-boot, start program, Installshield starts, I re-boot, then the program cannot find the RoxioCentralFx.exe file and asks if I want to browse for it. I have no problem browsing for the file, but I am sure that is not what is supposed to be happening.

I also installed the latest update, but that has not fixed the problem... :angry2:

You went through 2 weeks of frustration before posting or calling for help?

I think i have the same problem. SOmehow the roxiocentralfx.exe is in another folder "roxio", not "roxio creator 2009". ANyway, it does not work even if i find the file.

And i don't think tech support has any idea how to solve the problem. I have emailed them a few times and they only replied once and all they did was to ask me to do a clean install. Been there , done that and still does not work. So i don't think calling tech support on the phone will help. I can only hope that some kind folks here can help me.

Yeah... lol. It took me two weeks. I like to try to sort things out for myself first. It helps add to the experience. That is why I am here now. I couldn't get it done myself.

The update that I am referring to is the only update available... the SP1 update

Somehow, it screwed up my iTunes too!!!! When I updated to the latest version, it started doing the exact same thing! I hadn't had the problem until I installed Creator 2009.

Woobh - your problem is NOT the same (a looping installsheld)

In your case somehow you have a Roxio folder that shouldn't be there.

Now, 2009 doesn't create one of those so I'm guessing you have (or had) an older version which made that folder.

Uninstall any and all Roxio apps, remove any Roxio or Sonic folders (you will also find one of each in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data which is a hidden folder so you will have to unhide it) then go back to the clean install and follow it EXACTLY - do not add or skip even one step

For Vista

For XP

I understand that

It would better and faster for you to contact Tech Support by phone instead of running a guessing game here for several days…

Let us know what you find out!

I have already contacted Tech Support by email. They responded once, wanting to know my system's details. Hopefully, I will get another response soon.
