No Drive Detected

kimtpeterson

Question

Using v10 with a Philips DVD which went belly up. Replaced it with a Lite-on. No problem burning audio cds with the Philips. However, since then v10 says it can not find a device. So 10 was re-installed. Same.

If using music disc creator when clicking burn, the 'OK' therefore is disabled. Burned an image to the HD, clicked it and it says 'no drive detected'.

Possible to force the detection?

Think the problem came about when I installed DriverDetective which was supposed to update all drivers on a timely (when they were available) basis. It, however, appears to have messed up not only its portion but also the OS as well. By that I mean it installed a driver for my printer that caused the printer to print backwards, as if looking into a mirror. Was also having troubles with the scanner of my AIO.

So, the outcome for the past 24 hours was to format and re-install everything. Only this time on XP pro. Both problems went away. Whew!

Thanx for the help, cd. And I hope that no one else gets caught like this.

If i click on the image file (.c2d), the error message is 'Please insert a blank or rewritable CD into the ATAPI DVDRW DL (F:) drive Supported Media: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+r, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+RAM'. When clicking on the F: drive, am asked 'Prepare this blank disk'.

When using Music Disc Creator and trying to burn some tracks, when clicking on Burn the 'OK' button is disabled using the same cd.

Incidentally, Lite-on tech told me to delete 'Upper Filter' and 'Lower Filter' in HKEY Local Machine, System, Current ControlSet, Control, 4D36E 965E325. That is what caused the DVD not to be seen. Reinstalled those two elements and the drive is now recognized.

I see now you have several issues 'Prepare this blank disk' is some kinda of packet writing software. Roxio EMC 10, where you posted doesn't have packet writing software, it was droped in V 10, Roxio EMC 9 was the last version with it. So what burning software/softwares do you have installed that have the packet writing application?

We do that when Windows Operating System doesn't see the drives. Why did we do this? And what is "Reinstalled those two elements and the drive is now recognized"? Did we download the PX Engine and apply that or not?

The 'packet writing software' is Vista.

A Lite-on tech told me to delete 'Upper Filter' and 'Lower Filter'. Those are the two elements. Before they were deleted, I saved that portion of the registry to a .reg file. Easy to re-install those two elements.

The PX Engine was installed.

When clicking on the F: drive, am asked 'Prepare this blank disk'.

Tell Vista NO.

Becasuse Roxio software didn't see the LiteOn Drive or Windows didn't see the LiteOn Drive?

Is there a disc in the 'F' Drive? Is the (.c2d) image for CD or DVD?

I really don't understand what you mean same cd? Are you sure that the cd is empty, Vista never formated it? Are you making a CD or DVD project?
