I just completed an hour long slide show with audio in Video Wave 9 and My DVD. This process was very painful due to multiple problems with Video Wave and My DVD. The main problem that caused hours and hours ... days and days of frustration is the following:

Using the Audio Editor of the Video Wave program, unrestricted M4a files from iTunes will not front end trim. That's right, the back trim works but if you try to trim the front end of the song, it will preview correctly, but when burned to a DVD the front end trimmed part is still there. Thus, the entire sound track is out of sync with the slides. At first I thought the audio had become random, but after hours and hours of trouble shooting and many "coasters" later I discovered the front of the song CANNOT BE TRIMED by using Audio Editor or manually by doing an audio split and delete. THE FRONT OF THE SONG CANNOT BE TRIMMED ... THE VIDEO WAVE PREVIEW LIES. MP3's can be front trimmed but not m4a files.

There are a lot of smart people read these forms .... does anyone know WHY?

I did find two work around fixes.

1. There are file converters available on line. No mater what it takes .... convert your m4a files to mp3 the Audio Editor then works normal.

2. The Video Wave has two sound tracks, music and narration. As near as I can tell both are the same. Drag and drop the first song on the Music track. Make the desired front trim of the m4a file by setting the volume to ZERO. Then make a manual 5 second fade in at the desired point. The end trim should work normal. Meanwhile drag and drop the next song on the narration track. Use the same method to "zero volume" front trim and normal end trim. Slide the music files on the respective music and narration tracks for the desired sync to the slides. Alternate songs on the music and narration tracks to the end of the program.

Other problems I had making this slide show are too numerous to go into but involve constant dumps, freezes, program errors, and instability. This is why I will not buy EMC 9 or beyond.

List your system specs, similar to how I have mine listed in my signature.

Do the editing of your sound clips, in Sound Editor. Export them as .wav files, to a folder on your hard drive. You can then bring those edited clips into VideoWave.

I never edit audio clips in VideoWave.

Thanks for the info. This is a useful and creative work around. To me this still seems that the Roxio program has serious defects. The first problem is that the sound tract does not edit properly and the second is that the preview lies. I'm done with this project but if I ever do another with Roxio software I'll try your solution.
