Can't Get Creator 2009 Costco Ed. To Install

mik3carp

Question

I have an HP laptop with Vista 64 bit. First attempt at installation took 40 minutes but did not install icon on desktop, so no way to open whole application, only individual segments. I then came to this forum looking for anwers. Did Jim Harkin's Clean Install instructions to the letter, including turning off startup applications. Now computer is telling me that installation is complete after about 30 seconds, but still no desktop icon and there is no listing in All Programs.

The only program I could not get to uninstall was SmartSound Quicktracks Plugin. Neither Add/Remove Programs or Windows Installer Cleanup will remove it. I mention this because the installation seems to stall when Status: Installing SmartSound. It stays there for 5 or 10 seconds then goes to Finished.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

mik3carp

Your experience did help someone else. Thank you so much for posting it. Sounds like I avoided many hours of grief.

On my first attempt to install on my Vista 64 bit laptop the installation appeared to hang, with the DVD drive making an unusual sound. I stopped it, uninstalled what I could and started again. In the meantime I came across your post. So when the apparent hang and strange sound occured again, I waited, and waited and waited, yes maybe 30-40 minutes or so. Then all of a sudden silence. When I looked at the monitor, success! Thanks again.

Mike

I hadn't realized yet that Roxio Central was not opening, only the individual apps.

However, I restored my system to back before I ever put a Roxio disc in. Then tried your instructions again, this time being extra, extra careful and patient, and now everything is installed correctly and actually works correctly.

Thanks again,
