Image Loader And Blu-ray Images?

Gray

Question

Has anyone successfully used the Roxio image loader to mount a backed-up iso image of a blu-ray movie disk? I successfully backed it up as far as I can tell. There's a 45GB iso file on my hdd courtesy of anydvdhd. I attempted to mount it with the roxio image loader, and it looks like the loader thinks it is mounted in the application window. However, Windows changes its icon in my computer to a CDROM and tells me to insert a disk whenever I try to access it. I'm running Vista SP1.

HAs anyone else seen this? If The Roxio Loader won't work with Bluray images, any ideas on one that might?

Thanks!

Thanks. I've previously installed the Cyberlink advisor, and everything seems to be just fine, at least according to it. I have a Windows Vista SP! / Intel Pentium-D 3.4GHz / Nvidia 8800GTX/768MB install. I'm really having a PowerDVD problem, and not a Roxio issue that I'm trying to solve, extreme stuttering of BD playback. I don't think my PC is underpowered for this task  It appears that the GPU is not being utilized for playback acceleration, as my CPU utilization seems to average in the 60-80% range and sometimes pegs. But I don't want to waste this groups time on that, and sorry if it appears that way.

What I was doing was running an experiment to see if playing back from the HDD might make a difference. I used AnyDVD-HD to rip a sample DVD to my HD (50GB!) as an iso. I then attempted to mount the image using the Roxio image loader, and while the image loader saw the file and tells me that it mounted, Windows tells me its a CDROM and asks me to install media when I try to access it.

Anyway, I appreciate any advice and apologize if this is off-topic.

Are you trying to copy a commercial disc? If so, we can't discuss it here.

No. I'm troubleshooting a "stuttering" problem when playing from my LG BD drive and have made a backup to see if it operates any differently from my HD.

I don't think any of the Guru's have a BD (maybe Santa will read this) so it is not something that we can jump on! I am trying to create one now but it is a very slow process.

How did you copy this disc???

Can you mount the original disc to the Image drive?

The stutterinmg on the PC may be down to the fact that Blu-Ray playback is a lot more CPU intensive than DVD.

"Playing back Blu-ray or HD DVD requires a lot of computing power. Blu-ray discs (BDs) that uses MPEG-2 (most of the earlier BD releases) will require less CPU cycles, while the BDs/HD DVDs that uses VC-1 or H.264 will stress even the latest CPUs (especially H.264). Then you have your graphics card, which can provide accelerated decoding. And of course, you'll need a Blu-ray or HD DVD drive to be able to read the movie in the first place.

Before we go into detail about what's required, there is actually a tool you can download and run which will test your current system for Blu-ray and HD DVD compatibility. Download and install the CyberLink BD / HD Advisor. Run it and you will be presented with two options - one to test Blu-ray compatibility and another to test HD DVD compatibility. Run the test and you should get the results fairly quickly."
