Dvd Freezes On Playback

My problem is that any video DVD I create will 'freeze' in multiple locations on playback.

In the past, I successfully used Creator 9, under Windows 2000 Pro, to create DVDs from my library of TV shows recorded on VHS. I recently upgraded to Vista Home premium and Creator 10 and find that I cannot burn a project to DVD that doesn't freeze repeatedly when I try to replay it on my DVD player. For any specific project, the freeze will occur in generally the same places, no matter how many copies I burn. At each 'freeze point' I have to press the FFWD button to get the show to resume. The disks I prepared previously still play fine, so I know there's no problem with the DVD player. My hardware is the same as I used successfully in the past (Plextor PX-716A with HP media - DVD-R 16X 4.7GB/120min) and I've made all the necessary updates of firmware & software. The problem occurs whether I burn from a project or create an ISO image & burn from that. I've used Creator 10 to mount my ISO images and play them and there are no freezes when I play it on my PC.

Can anyone help? I'm pulling my hair out here (and I don't have that much to spare!)

Your burn is good, if it is playing with no errors, on the computer. What brand/type of media are you using? Try some Verbatim.

 

I had a Plextor 716A, that went south right after the warranty expired. Because yours was working fine before, doesn't mean it is working fine now, but I would try some Verbatim media, first.
