Installation Problem

Brian from OKC

Question

Every few months or so, I end up having to do a clean uninstall & reinstall. Normall the install works without a hitch, but this time it's telling me my CD Key is not valid. I went to Roxio.com and logged into my account and verified the CD key. In fact, just to make absolutely sure, I did a copy/paste of the key, straight from Roxio's screen into the install dialog box. It still told me it was an invalid key!

This happened to me once before, long ago, and someone at Roxio managed to reset the key or something. I think she had me log into my Roxio account online and perform some simple unrelated function, like change my password or unsubscribe from e-mail alerts or something. After that, the Key got accepted just fine.

fyi I disabled all virus/malware/firewall stuff before trying the install; I made sure there were no other programs running; I made sure I wasn't typing 0 instead of O or 5 instead of S, etc. The Key is still getting rejected, even though it's coming straight from my Roxio webpage. Please advise.

Thank you.

I guess that the first thing that I would question, is why you have to reinstall, every few months. What are you doing that would cause that need?

BTW, I am watching the Sooners and Oklahoma State, right now. :)

Thanks for the quick responses -- on a Saturday night, no less. Yeah, once a year the whole state of Oklahoma shuts down long enough to watch OU and OSU battle it out. The flags have been flying all week. Personally I don't care who wins, I just hope to see an exciting game... no 50-point blow-outs or anything.

You've fixed my problem. The emc9rmv file did the trick. Thanks!

The reason I have to occasionally reinstall is because Media Import (video) will look at my DVD drive and say "Selected location does not contain content for this project type", even though there's a disc in it that worked just fine the day before. The only way I've found to fix it is to uninstall/reinstall. I don't know what causes the problem, but it seems to happen if I import from my camcorder via usb, and then go back to importing a DVD. I've found a thread on this problem before, but the only suggested solution was to use the VOB method of importing, and I've never been able to get the audio & video to sync up that way.

The thanks goes to Ogdens for posting the link, and the game is turning into a great one!
